It was there one day, and gone the next. Has it closed down?

No - sees they have some domain (DNS?) issues. Hope they sort it out soon as since TTOKTV and Childbytes went down they are the only site with good kids/family content outside the few releases you see from INSECVTS etc on 0day trackers (and my little girl needs her fix lol).

They sent a workaround via email that works (was easy but obviously nto the best thing):

Dear members,

Sorry for the issues on accessing TorrentKids over the last few days.. again.

The first time there was an issue with our DNS not updating properly. Currently the site IS up but once again the DNS seems to be messed up. We're trying to sort it out with the registrar ASAP, but in the meantime you can access the site by following the instructions below.

You can also access these instructions at the CartoonChaos forum which you can register on without needing an invitation : http://tinyurl.com/yekyze3

Here is a quick fix (and it is simple, if you follow the instructions ;) )

FOR WINDOWS USERS:

1. First locate your hosts file.

Windows 95/98/Me c:\windows\hosts

Windows NT/2000/XP Pro c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Windows XP Home c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

NOTE: Hosts is the name of the hosts file and not another directory name. It does not have an extension (extensions are the .exe, .txt, .doc, etc. endings to filenames)

and so appears to be another directory in the example above.

Also you may need administrator access for Windows NT/2000/XP.

You may have a file called "Hosts.sam". This file is a sample Hosts file (the .sam stands for sample) and can be used by removing the .sam extension so the name is just "Hosts".

2. Open it with notepad (or whatever text editor your OS uses - DON'T USE MS WORD) and add the following lines:

91.199.108.191 torrentkids.org
91.199.108.191 www.torrentkids.org

This will now tell your PC that TK is at that IP address.

This will allow you both web access and your client to seed.

3. Save the changes to the file and reboot you computer

FOR LINUX USERS:

1. Edit the hosts file on your system with root access. The hosts file is usually found in /etc/hosts

2. Add this entry to the Hosts file:

91.199.108.191 torrentkids.org

There is no need to reboot your system.

FOR MAC OSX USERS: Macintosh OS X

The procedure is similar to Linux above. The hosts file can be found in /etc/hosts

Once you've edited that file (and rebooted where necessary) you should have full access to TorrentKids :)

Regards,
The Torrent Kids Team.

Remember to remove these lines after they've solved their DNS issues. If they ever change their IP in the future, you'll be unable to access the site.

Ha - thanks. I did recall someone saying that the first time this happened. Always something to learn.

Thanks for the info. Wasn't really all that confident about editing system files, but I gave it a try.

It worked like a charm.

Thanks again!
