I bought a computer about a year ago when i didnt know to much about them, and it only came with 128 mb of ram!? whats the point in even having a computer? 128 mb of ram is pretty much useless, why do they even make anything less then 256?
im gonna upgrade to 512 at least, and i was just wondering how and where are the best deals are to get good performance, but not pay a lot

They get away with selling the minimum they can get away with. The lower their costs the higher the profit.

so would it be better to order one from them or to buy from staples or some other big chain store?

wat's ur comp specs? and wat r u gona use it for? gaming: kingsington, corsair
regular: maybe samsung infineon (1 i have) and some other cheap generic ones. cuz if u use it for normal use and occassional gaming, then generic and normal ones will be fine. like me

yeah, i just use my computer for regular stuff like typing and regular programs and then i play some games like counter strike, counting on HL2 as well, so i want them to run smoothly, but i do not need really high end stuff, just regular probably

128 is useless on win2k pro...

256 is also useless, 512 makes it start up and run like a dream...

128mB of RAM is not that bad, unless your computer is having a problem.

If 128 is so useless, then when you get that 512MB of ram upgrade, don't forget to eliminate that first useless 128MB.

All of my office computers only have 128MB ram and we run autocad and plotters with them. No problem.

My very first computer came with 4MB of RAM. Now that is BAD.

My kid's PC is a PIII 700mHz with 128MB RAMbus w/NVIDIA 32MB TNT2 and he plays Unreal Tournament with no problem.
