I have doubts any Bittorrent drama spurred well over 10K people to flood the site.

Maybe they adjusted the time on the server accidentally and it started to count people that were logged in X hours previous as still logged in? :unsure:

The 10k mark even outnumbers apparently the entire "Active" memberbase, which doesn't require much to be counted as one.
