I use WinZip because I tried WinRAR one time and I didn't think it was really any better than WinZip.

100% better than winzip (http://www.rarlabs.com/download.htm)

Winrar without a doubt, opens files winzip can't and files that winzip says are corrupt.

winRAR all the way.

Handles both filetypes and more, compression is better, etc. etc.

Why?

you never have to pay, it just kicks a nag error
just x-out and continue, if its that much of a bother, find a serial # or crack, but you really don't have to

I keep it installed for the occasional .ace archived download, but I never use it to create archives.

I prefer WinRar but it never seems to open .zip files properly. So Winzip for Zip Rar for anything else. Better to have both, theyre free anyway.

WinXP's built-in .ZIP support works perfectly fine for me. don't really need a special program for .ZIPs.

for other compressed formats i use WinRAR, and on very rare occasions i use StuffIt.
