May 2nd 2010

We've been seeing the iPad / iPhone Spirit jailbreak demoed here and there for a few weeks now, and here we go -- the download is now available. The untethered jailbreak works on activated iPhone OS devices running 3.1.2, 3.1.3, and 3.2, although iPad owners are warned that "all this is still sort of beta" and might require you to restore if things break. That's not the worst thing in the world, we suppose -- anyone taking the plunge?

Confirmed 100% working!

If you are using windows 7 or windows vista you have to set the file to windows 98 compatibility and run it.

Easiest jailbreaks ever, it automatically identifies your device and jailbreak takes less than a minute.

No carrier unlock however but I'm sure it only days away.

^^^You've got one? Please post a review on it ;). All sites seem to just waffle on about nothing.

Worked on 3.1.3. It works as easy as Blackra1n but you also get Cydia.

Really what? The iPad is Apple's Tablet. I believe Asus is diving into the Tablet market too, just deciding weather to use Android or Chrome as an OS. They've already decided to use Windows (different model).

Take a look at these articles:

Wikipedia - Tablet PC (Popular models) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tablet_PC#Popular_models)

Gizmodo - ASUS Preparing One Google Tablet, One Windows

I will post a review tomorrow. For now i'll say it's cool and all but not worth the money, luckily I only paid $250 US for my 64GB version without wi-fi. a few days after the hit the streets. Now what I may actually pay full price for is the HP Slate if they keep all what seems to be the specs ;)

Thanks Detale. Have you read these article?:

PC World: HP Slate: Why It's Hot — and Not (http://www.pcworld.com/article/193584/hp_slate_why_its_hot_and_not.html?loomia_ow=t0:s0:a38:g26:r5:c0.020494:b32588082:z0)

We just had the Netbook era and now we're preparing for the Tablet era .

To be honest, I don't think app support will ever be as big as the iPad on a non-Windows Tablet.

Me either TBH. For whatever reason people here love the i-gadgets as an example look at all the damn ipod accessories. dozens of companies making hundreds of i-capable products. There's even a keyboard I saw the other day with a built in ipod dock ffs. The do have a great following there them apple folk.

The only reason I think Slate could rival the Ipad is because it has Win7, a camera and USB ports. there would be no apps only the programs we use now.

Warning:

Do NOT attempt to use the new spirit jailbreak on an iPhone/iPod touch which is already jailbroken (using blackra1n or any other app), unless you fancy getting into an infinite recovery loop.

The Spirit JB page says you shouldn't do it, but a lot of idiots out there, including yours truly, were too eager to try it and managed to brick their iPhones.

See a few of them whining here:
