Diligent work on a covert project spanning back nearly 8 full months has finally paid off - the SceneLife crew are now ready to unveil their latest tracker, simply titled "The X". Some will call this "ScL v2", when in fact The X is an entirely different (and better) site than its predecessor, in every way. Old staff (and new) have come together to create this brand-new & exciting 0sec/scene tracker - the first of its kind to be powered by ScT’s unreleased ScTBDev sourcecode. Also known as just X, it’s also the only known tracker in existence to begin life with more than 15,000 active torrents, all before opening the door.

The idea for ‘X‘ can be traced back to at least September 2009, when ScL staff agreed to move away from absentee ownership and other irreparable internal problems. Truth be told - ScL had been struggling for quite some time, and it was finally announced on 03/31/2010 that SceneLife would cease to exist as we know it.

However, active development of a new tracker had already commenced prior to the official announcement. Staff at "X" (ex-ScL’ers & others) have some connections. With assistance from unnamed former SceneTorrents’ staff, the crew obtained the new ScTDBev codebase months in advance of its intended public release. 2½ months ago - work began to create X, the first tracker ever to implement ScTBDev.

Have to? You make it sound like we can't have planned for opening registrations from the beginning. Where does this attitude come from anyways? I've seen many bs posts about us trying to be secretive or "elite" or similar crap. Is it really that hard to understand that the reason we have opened small is that the site isn't finished yet? It would be foolish to open the doors completely with a half-finished site, don't you think? I mean even with the small ~1500 userbase we started off with, we have to take a lot of unconstructive criticism from people who don't realize that beta = not finished (not the least from this place).

You could be right. Though it could also be that "the X" is nothing but a reference to our symbol (X), as in Xpress :unsure:. Other references are ScX and SeX. I don't think any of them is a symbol for being "elite", but you are entitled to your opinion of course.

OK then. I don't have anything against you or the site, to be honest. It's just usually, utter secrecy (which is what I thought you were aiming for with that "the X" thingy) tends to backfire on torrent sites, specially new ones. Look at the CN fiasco, for example.

Seems you don`t get my point.

Well let me put it like this,
I may love a tracker and be downloading like crazy in a particular month.
And maybe seeding from box and downloading in another month.

And then its quite possible in any given month I wont be downloading anything, maybe just seeding back.
For that disabling the account is not a good rule.
Just a thought.

Scenexpress.net down, lost paypal account (fuck paypal) and we ran out of rainy day funds (self.trackers)

the sad/funny part is paypal only suspended us because they wanted identification info. we submitted it 2 months ago and called and called but they kept telling us to wait while they verified it.

if paypal ever comes thru we will bring the site back up since there is a months worth of payments in that account, but otherwise it may just have to wait till late spring when i'll be able to afford funding it myself

We are working on bring the irc server back on a vps. I'll move the irc. subdomain over when im done

We know the site has been down for some time but, we are in the process of coming back and doing things better. Some changes will be:

We are coming back as a General tracker, We will be Ratio Free! Although HnR rules will be modified and still apply Users will be able to upload(after achieving a certain rank), Snatching and posting requirements will be removed.

UPDATE2:

ok, we have our server up and we are starting to to some recode and general site cleanup. Things of note, the current rank system will be changed as well during this process.
