Simple really - If you find (either by accident, by searching or by seeing it on the news) an auction on eBay where the item is original (to put it mildly ), put a link to it here.

Dunno whether this would be classed under commercial advertising (as per the rules), but just in case make sure that the bid has closed before posting it. i.e. Just check the closing date and make sure it has passed ;)

I'll start off - I found this while I was having a look at the Mirror's website. It was in today's iBlog.

I think someone was taking Benny Hill's song "Ernie - The Fastest Milkman in the West" a bit too seriously

Heh - I'd just love to know where the owner got the engine in the first place :o

Who needs a black market now to get a military jet engine when you have eBay?

I think that the buyer was insane to place a large bid on something that the seller was not sure of what he was selling. He said he had no idea what the things were and did not say any of the items were authentic.

I checked that law on selling counterfiet products and nowhere does it say "unknowingly". Meaning that if you sold it unknowingly as a genuine product.

HOLY CRAP!

The ebay counter on that item is almost 1 million!!!!!! It gets 24 hits a second. The item was sold in Sept. 22 2003.

I was checking the going rate for XBoxes today and this one caught my eye...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=20387 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3053161748&category=20387)

The description reads...

Like new Microsoft XBOX video game system. BROKEN.

and it sold for $70 plus $25 shipping & insurance. So that's $95 for a broken XBox! What a bargain.

sometimes i find myself hating people - is that wrong?

Do you hate people for selling things (they're not being misleading in any way), or do you hate the morons who buy anything?
Actually, you get two controllers that presumably work, so that's only $47.50 per controller. :D

who know's, maybe it's a good fixer-upper. :P

4 the latter part. u can buy a WORKING refurbed XBOX at wal-mart for $130 bucks in my town, and that includes a controller. some people just buy stuff on ebay cuz it's on ebay.

i have a friend who buys EVERYTHING on ebay. he always has stories like, "i bought these speakers on ebay for 50 bucks and american wanted 60 for em!" i'm like, coo - how much was shipping? "15 bucks" is his dumb arse reply. EERGGH
