What I mean by that question is (assuming you love, or at least like Soccer) how are you preparing for the one month event?
how do you plan on watching the games? any special snacks or drinks?, will you have people over?

In my case, I won't be working during the World Cup :01: so I plan on watching the most games possible,
either on HDTV, spanish or english since I live on the Mexico/US border, or even the internet for the games that aren't transmitted over the air TV.
The local time here in Tijuana for the games will be at 4:30am, 7:00am and 11:30am so I guess for the ones that are very early
I'll set the alarm, get up and make myself a hot cup of Coffee with toast or something and then
probably watch it from bed in my 32" HDTV (assuming they air the games in HD which I think they will, as they been airing all the latest Mexico friendlies in HD).
For the games that are a bit later in the morning I might watch them while having breakfast on my kitchen Tv,
or again, if the game is in HD may be take the mini table and watch it in my bigger Tv; or may be I'll have breakfast between games.
I might stock on provisions before hand, I'd hate to be out of coffee or snacks just before a game, even more if my Team is playing.
And last I think I might be watching most of the games by myself :( since the people that usually watch 'futbol' with me didn't plan for it as I did.

Anyway I'm curious to hear if you have any plans for the event.

Mexico is about to play England @ Wembley Stadium in less that 25 minutes; one could say the WC has already started for us here because we also play Holland (always assumed that it is the same as the Netherlands, right?) next Wednesday, Gambia a few days later and finally Italy on June 2, damn I have a feeling it ain't gonna be pretty, lol.

Yes, I live in Tijuana and indeed it is as they portray it to be in those documentaries, I've seen a few of them and the only thing is that although they do mention the level of corruption in the police, the authorities and the government, it feels like it's under-rated, meaning that it actually goes deeper that it seems, one can feel it if you live here.

well looks like the England's game's gonna remain one-sided (cruising at 3-1)...but the game's being played in England...I'd love to see how the Brits perform in the higher altitude regions

I'm betting for Mexico and Uruguay tomorrow. Mexico has one of the strongest squads on the cup, and will be a tough side to beat. They proved strong on WC 2006 when we had a hard time beating them 2-1 on the groups phase, and now they are even stronger.
Good luck.

I really like Spain. And I've always liked the way the Netherlands play. And Brazil. And Argentina (allthough if they get far this time it'll be despite Maradona, lol). But I wish that an African team would get far. I really think a few of them are good enough and just lack confidence or mental strength.

Of course I'll be rooting for my country as well. It's a miracle we've made it, but what we lack in skill, we make up with heart and will. We're not afraid of anyone and we're not under pressure, since we're the underdogs. Kinda like the Boston Celtics. :P

Ufh! what a scare,
Mexico had the game the first 15 minutes or so, I thought, but they became complacent and they payed the price,
in the end it coould have been worst.
For a moment I thought Aguirre was loosing his mind becauase he started making all those changes,
but I think with te exception of Chicharito (Javier) Hernandez his changes did some good.
I wanted it to be over already, lol.

Was it just me, or did the game became very exciting towards the end?

lol I'm just kiddin', I guess it could be, most people are saying that, but I though 'little pea' was right on the line with the French player
but then, my broh says that apparently I don't understand what an of-side is.
Hell if we are going to get technical then one could argue that there wasn't even a penalty but what ever,
it's been Us (Mexico) in the other side so many times before, besides it might turn out to be what they call poetic justice, France might go out te same way they came.

Why does FIFA not use live replays again?

A goal goes in offside, and it is blatantly shown to be offside by the massive display in the field, yet the refs still count the goal. Is this world caliber refereeing or what?

Germans shell-shocked by oracle octopus
Tuesday July 6, 2010 12:06PM - By Reuters Limited.

BERLIN (Reuters) -- Germany was in a state of shock on Tuesday after their "oracle octopus" Paul picked Spain to win the World Cup semifinal match against Germany in South Africa on Wednesday.

Not an ordinarily superstitious people, Germans have become believers in Paul's possible psychic powers.

"This is not a good omen," wrote Bild newspaper's online edition after the news of Paul's pick flashed across Germany.

The octopus has turned into an international celebrity after accurately picking the winner of all five German World Cup matches to date -- including its 1-0 loss to Serbia.

Two national networks interrupted their programming on Tuesday for live coverage of Paul's latest forecast, and groans of disappointment rang out across Germany after Paul went for a container with a morsel of food in it bearing the Spanish flag.

"We were all a little bit shocked when Paul picked Spain," said Tanja Munzig, a spokeswoman for Sea Life in Oberhausen. "To err is not only human -- animals can also make mistakes. Let's hope Paul got this one wrong."

The octopus, considered by some to be the most intelligent of all invertebrates, was again given the choice of picking food from two different transparent containers lowered into his tank -- one with a German flag on it and one with a Spanish.

The container Paul opens first is regarded as his pick for the match. Paul first put his tentacles around the German container before moving to his left to the Spanish box -- first opening the lid and then snatching the morsel of food inside.

Germans stunned by Paul's decision to pick Spain took consolation in the fact that Paul got one of his five picks wrong at the Euro in 2008. Oddly enough it also involved Spain: In the final Paul picked Germany over Spain. But Spain won 1-0.

It was Paul's only inaccurate pick of that tournament. He has never been wrong since and has an overall record of 9-1.

"Maybe Paul was just trying to give Spain a false sense of security," said Munzig, who said scores of journalists were at Sea Life to witness Paul's latest pick. Thousands of people have visited Sea Life to see Germany's newest celebrity.

"To be honest I'm going to have butterflies in my stomach watching the Spain match," she added. "I'm not a superstitious person but he's had an incredible winning streak so far."

Paul was born in England. He has been five for five at the World Cup. He picked Germany wins over Australia, Ghana, England and Argentina -- as well as their Group D loss to Serbia.

Media attention over Paul's picks in Germany and abroad has grown with each pick and some commentators have even wondered aloud whether his uncanny run might even be having an influence on superstitious players.

Paul's winning streak may have contributed to a growing superstition among the Germany team.

Germany coach Joachim Loew admitted he will not wash a favorite blue sweater as long as his team keeps winning. Loew said he bowed to pressure from other coaching staff and players to keep wearing the sweater for their matches.

Every time Loew wore the blue V-neck sweater Germany scored four goals. "I am not even allowed to wash it now and I think I will wear it again (against Spain)," Loew said on Monday.

http://media.bestofmicro.com/bobbi-eden-twitter-world-cup-holland,9-9-254349-1.jpgDutch Porn Star Offers Fellatio to Her Twitter Fans (if Dutch wins World Cup) :lips:
July 9, 2010 - By Jane McEntegart - Source : Tom's Guide US

" Well this is a novel way to show support for the Dutch soccer team.

The World Cup has the power to whip even those with no interest in soccer into a fevered frenzy. However, there are also those who can't stand the game, World Cup or no World Cup. Perhaps this declaration from Holland's biggest fan will be enough to get even the most uninterested to tune in to Sunday's match?

Time magazine reports that Bobbi Eden, one of the Netherlands' leading porn stars, has promised free oral sex to each and every one of her twitter fans if Holland wins the World Cup final against Spain this coming Sunday.

As you can imagine, after that little declaration was made, Bobbi got herself a whole lot more fans. Before the fellatio promise, Bobbi had about 5,000 fans on Twitter, now she has almost 95,000.

http://media.bestofmicro.com/bobbi-eden-twitter-world-cup-holland,9-B-254351-13.png

Eden has three of her porn star friends on hand to help, and is still insisting that she'll go ahead with the stunt, despite the fact that she now has to give 20 times the freebies she initially thought. Her latest update instructs followers to tune in on Monday when she'll be detailing how you can "collect your blowjob."

http://media.bestofmicro.com/bobbi-eden-twitter-world-cup-holland,9-C-254352-13.png

The news comes after Paraguayan model Larissa Riquelme promised to run through the streets of Asuncion naked if Paraguay won the World Cup. Unfortunately, Paraguay was knocked out in the quarterfinals. Luckily, Larissa has said she'll do it anyway. You know, for the players. Bless her.

http://media.bestofmicro.com/bobbi-eden-twitter-world-cup-holland,9-A-254350-13.jpg

All this talk of nudey women doing naughty things and you're asking, what's in it for us girls? Well, Diego Maradona made the same promise as Larissa (before she did, actually). Sadly, he hasn't promised to do the stunt despite Argentina's loss. Sad faces all 'round, I'm sure. Someone start a petition!
