The K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of DirectShow filters, VFW/ACM codecs, and tools. Codecs and DirectShow filters are needed for encoding and decoding audio and video formats. The K-Lite Codec Pack is designed as a user-friendly solution for playing all your audio and movie files. With the K-Lite Codec Pack you should be able to play all the popular audio and video formats and even several less common formats.

Sorry.. but I don't see the point of it being in news section. Shouldn't it be better, if it was in Softwares section? :O My opinion..

I've been posting the K-lite updates in the news section for a couple of years now.

lol.

CCCP is a very outdated pack. last update was 9 month's ago.
CCCP has a version of ffdshow that is 400+ builds older than the revision that is selectable in the latest K-lite pack

VLC works good for me. I don't know the exact reasons but people that know much more than I do say to stay far far away from codec packs.

Thanks for the News and Update.

But VLC have the integrated Codecs what I need and works flawlessly.
With the k-lite codec packs,I had some troubles in the past (incompatibilities related with sound in a couple of softwares and multimedia products ), never went back to Install those K-Lite codec packs.
To much of a headache and hassles.
In my particular case that I need a codec and once I identify which codec I need (sound or video related) I prefer to install it separately (stand alone) and being sure that it doesn't delete, overwrite or install any other "extra codec" that I don't need or don't know about it and been sure it don't interfere with any other application or software.

but..appreciate the effort and time to update the News :) .

taker.
thanks.
