Do you have one of those albums that touches you deeply?
This album touched me......and it still does.
It shows the potential and a new direction I believe that Kurt and company
were heading.
It was raw and simple and for all those that worship virtuosity above all else
it can explain to you why technical merit is only part of the equation.
Music is something more than being adept at your instrument.
I have played the drums for 16 years and I have learned this through
trial by fire.
The older I get the less impressed I am by what someone can do with their hands
or what note they can hit......blah blah blah!
Dont get me wrong, A beautiful voice still stirs my soul....and a blazing fast dance up the frets of a six string still gives me chills.
But if thats all you got ............Give me 4 chords and a nicotine drenched voice screaming Kick out the Jams muther f*ckers!
Music is art.... and I love it all from The Beatles and Captain Beefheart to Slayer and The Flaming Lips.........as long as its got some soul, makes you want to get up and shake your ass, cry, scream,Grab your girl/guy and f*ck the hell out of them,
thats what music is to me.
When your feeling broken-hearted and nothing feels like it matters.........Lay down on your bed with some headphones and a glass of wine (mabey a left handed cigarette...if thats your thing ;) ) and put in what ever music moves you and you will feel better.... if not enjoy your depression!
Peace brotherdoobie
