Encoding part is easy. Knowing your way around the internet to not ask is where you failed.

First you have to pick format to encode to...

MP3, XViD, DVDR, X264, BR?

I'm good at encoding XVID. I encoded HardSub at virtualdub.

if you haven't blinded by the massive amount of knowledge gushing out of this post, there is no hope for you!

Knowing encoding will help you get into scene is just as much as knowing English will help you to get into Harvard...

Firstly, a bad rip is a bad rip, regardless of where it is released to - be it Scene or P2P. You only know as much as you know - you cannot be sure it's enough. If you are unsure about terms like progressive, interlaced, top field first, bottom field first, inverse-telecine then you need to step back a second and start reading some forum posts....

Yes there is shitload of them, if you are capable of using utorrent.

You sound pretty noob, and getting noober with everypost, it might look like a game but scene ain't world of warcraft.

They're pretty much all crap.. none (I say this with confidence) provide the in depth knowledge behind encoding. They're all generalized guides, when each encode is practically a unique challenge on it's own - especially at a Scene level, when all encodes have to be done to a standard.
