My entrance exams are coming and I'm not doing well for the preparation due to me being mostly engrossed in the daily activities of FST (being new to BT world and all). And FST has also become my homepage, so its not that I don't spend atleast 4-5 hours here (give or take an hour or so).

Now, I think I'll be able to control myself only if I stop coming to FST for a while (easier said than done ;))

My exams are 8 months away and around 10 months from now, I'll be getting into my college. So, I've to be inactive for around that period.

Now, I don't want to be like those people who come here and say "I've come after 1 year and now I've been banned due to inactivity everywhere. Please provide me invite to blah blah blah tracker".

No, because I've really worked hard to get my invites.. "earned it" :P (not talking about deserving here) and the ratio I've made in my trackers, well.. It'd be definitely difficult to do that again due to my poor connection and all. So, I can't let go of the trackers I have.

So.. now comes the question of this topic : What strategy should I apply to remain "unbanned"?

I will still be seeding these 8-10 months. No downloading, just seeding. Just, I won't be opening the browser. Now, I ask you all (if it's not a hassle) to please suggest me something in general, what I could do and what I should do. I know, I could have just asked in the ircs of the trackers, but instead of talking to all of them (they might be different in their rules), I just want to get a general opinion.

Should I just go and login once in a month? Or even within a shorter period? Or should I really talk to the mods of the trackers for a way out of this? Or is there any auto login script as such, which can do the trick?

I had some questions aside from this too. If I park my account, can I still seed/leech? And will this activity counted as active as such in the tracker or do I need to login?

Currently as far as I know, only being power user at bitgamer allows that accounts won't be pruned for inactivity.

So, any suggestions from you all? :)

I suggest either sex or bribery .
Or bribery with sex.

Failing that in 10 months you will hopefully probably hopefully probably have seen the error of your ways concerning torrent sites and chucked them all for the less effete pursuits of drugs and fast women anyway .
If not contact me and I will re-invite and we can both be banned together in a glorious blaze of infamy.

Not all trackers act in the same way, Iīd advice you to put some note in your profile for letting staff to know your situation.

Although I discovered the hard way that some trackers like TL donīt take that into consideration and they just delete your account, unless you have a high level (VIP and above). Others require, not only to login, but have some tracker activity (XXX Mb traffic) in a period of time, like BitmeTV.

Try to send a PM to staff, and if they want, they can mark your account for not being deleted.

Log in and say "hi, tracker people" and seed a few torrents on the sites you want to keep long-term.

Also, say, "hi, mbm" once in a while, too. :D

The delusion that you won't be opening a browser for months on end is quite amusing to me as I study for the baddest bar around (only the boards are comparable).

Set up a lastpass that logs in automatically for every tracker. Bookmark every tracker in a folder. Than you can open that folder weekly and everything will stay where it should be.

Sweet, a bar tender! Got a really good margarita recipe you are willing to share?

Good choice on not becoming a carpenter! You don't know how precious a good back is until you've hurt it. Bar tending will still be hard on your legs and feet. Get some good shoes.

You know.. I really do have an answer for this..

1) Go to User Accounts > Change Password > Make some family member sit and let them chose the password and not tell me.

2) Change the administrator password from someone else in the family from the very start.

3) Install "Advance Task Scheduler" to schedule my torrent apps (I need it cause I have a night unlimited plan here)

4) Go to uTorrent > Options > Preferences > Scheduler, except the "night unlimited" hours, mark every other block as "seed only".

5) Go to screensaver > Choose 3 mins for a normal screensaver and select "On resume, display Welcome Screen".

6) My connection > Properties > Options > Redial Attempts - 999999999

Oh, yea.. I've got it planned. :01:

Your method seems like an awful amount of work and setting up. What I do is keep all my tracker bookmarks in a folder in FF, and once in a while ill click the mouse wheel on the folder which opens up ever tracker in a separate tab. If I happen to lose an account due to expiry (happened a few times), I realize I didn't care much for it in the first place.

8 months of studying straight......

I think sooner or later you'll open the browser to relax for at least a few minutes lol...

I used to take Dextroamphetamine back when I was in school... Expensive little buggers as I wasn't prescribed...
It's basically the generic form of adderall, which helps you gain focus and awareness.

I literally didn't eat all day on days I took them, and I was soo focused on a single goal that I wouldn't stop until I was complete.
When I took tests, I would be right on the ball and wouldn't ever get distracted.
It almost felt as if I became smarter because I was remembering things I didn't remember (hard to explain)

All in all.... drugs are bad mmmmkkk.

I know I would want to, but I mustn't. I'm pretty much addicted here. :(

And I may open it for relaxing for like 30 mins, and it will end up in like 2 hours or something.

Anyways, that's why I'm doing the above mentioned steps, so that even if I want to, I can't open my desktop.

This. Get a portable version of your favorite browser, put it in a flashdrive, use it to login to all your sites (choosing to automatically log in or disabling things like "log out if I'm not active for X minutes"), and close it. You can then proceed to do what TrueSounds said every month or so, I'm sure you'll have at least five minutes to do this...

The ideal amount of study time per session is only about 30 minutes, before you overload your brain with too much new information to process.

Good luck with your 8 months.

All TBDev trackers start out with an automatic disabler for inactivity. Staff can later change the inactivity duration, as well as add an automatic account deletion system. TL automatically disables accounts, and deletes them, as well as several other sites. You should probably go to different site irc's to explain your situation. At sites like these, you'll probably need to get reinvited at a later point.

I'm not trying to be harsh, but do people really have self restraint issues in today's times? You'd think with all the available media, you could figure out a way to stay on focus. (not being sarcastic. it could be distracting, but it could also help)

Personally, when I need to study extremely seriously, I just pick up my ipod, headphones, bus tickets, and book. Try that, it works wonders.

There are a lot of distractions, I'll certainly agree to that. I think there needs to be a balance between fun and our duties.

I do not believe 100% focus on anything, especially for 8 entire months, will be of benefit. Do the readings, discuss the issues, take some time to relax, and keep pushing forward.

Another thing to remember: most jobs and schools want to know that you have outside interests. Why? Because they make you a real person.

So, again, find balance and learn to set limits on the things that are fun, but also set limits on the things that are work.

I agree to the above opinions.. but you really don't know what type of students are here.. Studying straight for 2 years, with no fun. Only studying and sleep.

Besides, I think I enjoyed my bit.. Guess it's time to do some studying now. After all, this maybe one of those last times, I've to study what I don't like. After these 10 months, I'd be able to follow on what I'm passionate about. :01:

Frequent forum posters are the people with ADD in real life. So school might not be any more difficult to focus on than ten years ago, but it likely is for people with a high post per day count.

I'm certain you will do very well with whatever it is you decide to do. It is very apparent you are willing to work hard for the things you want. That is certainly an admirable trait!

You may do a little bit of reading on "burnout". After downloading and playing the game for the next 20 hours straight, do another search- this time regarding how people (and entire cultures) have pushed themselves to the point of high-stress, suicide, ulcers, and much more. Just find a balance you can thrive with.

All the best in your successful future endeavors!

Just found/remembered an incident about ADD :

Sam is an ten-year old with an IQ of 135 who gets Cs on his report card, is disruptive in class, and constantly challenges rules and procedures. He has poor handwriting, is fidgety, unorganized, impulsive, has a poor verbal memory but strong visual memory, and talks too loud and too much. He is brilliant on a computer and like to invent things. His behavior is actually perfectly normal for someone who is gifted and has an ENTP temperament (extravert-intuitive-thinking-perceiving). In school he's bored out of his mind. He's also a visual thinker rather than a verbal thinker, which is why he is very good at computers and picking up complex concepts. Because he is an extreme extrovert, he needs to move in order to think and otherwise needs a lot of external stimulation, such as a radio on when he studies. At the same time, he can become too wound-up if overstimulated. He also has allergies to mold, dust and citrus fruits. When his allergies act up he is becomes generally more wound up, impulsive and cranky. A lack of good sleep causes the same problems. Even though he meets the diagnostic criteria of ADD, some would say he is not really ADD. Others would say he is ADD, but that ADD is a broad realm with many positives. It is not clear who is correct.

Now.. If you're technically speaking in this manner, half of it is correct in my case (not the C's :P I still somehow manage A's ;)). My area of interest have always been very far (and I mean very far) from the ones of my friends. So, I sometimes did feel the odd one out. There were a few exceptions but very few. They couldn't keep up with my area of interest (though some still try) and I couldn't about theirs. It was like some mutual interest which bonded us. I had progressed too much in my favorite field for them to catch on (Not boasting here, of course).

I come here frequently because people can understand/grasp something quickly what I want to say and even I can learn here, which is rare in real life.

Like.. say that I'm downloading FIFA 10 in java for my cell to work on and here one of my friends think that we can play the PC version of FIFA 10 on cell, if it had enough "memory".. :ermm: Well.. you can see the difference.

I know what you're pointing towards. :) I know it exactly. You can't believe how many students suicide here in my country due to stress caused due to studies, peer pressure etc. According to statistics, my country contributes about 10% of suicides and the southern part contributing the most in the whole world. I know it. Students can't handle it. I'm not like that though.. Nor my parents are like the forceful-high-grade-seeking ones. Just its the matter of short time. Supposedly, its the time, where our whole future depends on. So, I might use the time and do it. I mean these 8 months are very small as compared to my life I've lived upto now and even short in comparison to how much I'm gonna live. So, I might as well do it this time and enjoy my rest of life.

P.S. : Thanks for the support. :)
