Specs (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=633516&Sku=CP2-XP26003BC) Ok, here it says that the 2600 has 640KB of cache....is this the only athlon XP with 640 cuz all I see is 512? Will that much more cache make much of a difference?

It has 128k of Level 1 cache and 512k Level 2 cache. Normally when people talk about cache, they only mention the L2 cache size.

edit: and no, it wouldn't make much difference even if it did have the extra cache.

Oh ok thanx...so do the others just not mention the L1 cache?

i'd take a 2500 over a 2600, and a 2700 over a 2500 (if only because i have a 2700  )

It depend on weather the 2600 is Barton or TB which can has a massive impact on performance.

The Barton does have the option of DDR FSB, which is nice, I upgraded recently to the 2500 Barton, and I really saw a speed increase. Only thing I don't like about the Barton, is promoted like its a 333 mhz front side bus.
While it is being pumped at double the rate to give 333 mhz fsb, its really only 166. I think they should mention that, on websites you purchase it from.

Just one of my pet pevs. sorry. :D

go with the 2500+ rather than the 2600+, because the 2500+ uses the barton core which is alot cooler and i heard the 2500+ is really overclockable!

You mean like a 533MHz FSB P4 is actually 133MHz quad clocked?
And ALL the 266MHz FSB chips are DDR 133MHz clocks?
etc, etc, etc.

They are all like that, come back when you know what you are talking about. :P

@Kunal, you can also get 2600+ Barton chips now.

i read an article somewhere some place that compared the 2600+ TB and Barton - it showed the Barton was only marginally faster
