If you are using linux there are a lot of frefox alternatives . Like midori , and dillo . On windows is either firefox or chrome and with maybe opera although i don't like it

It only seems to be faster on google.com .... Other sites seem to be the same when comparing firefox vs chrome....
As I have said before, I have no incentive to switch to chrome as I have been so pleased with Mozilla's software.

Disregard me if your talking about system requirement between the two browsers.....

I'm running 6 gb of ram and an i7 running at 2.68 a core..... I can't recall tasking over 50% of either ever...

I have used Firefox, Chrome and Opera (IE is not listed here for obvious reasons) and I have to say that:
Chrome is the fastest to open and the least RAM consuming one (because of its tabs),
Firefox might not be the fastest, but you can customize everything about it, and its compatible with most of the webpages
Opera is the fastest for navigating, but it is incompatible with some pages (its my favorite browser)

I can count the number of Opera-incompatible pages I've stumbled upon with my fingers, but it does happen. Did you try setting the User-Agent for those sites (F12 -> Edit Site Preferences -> Network) to "mask as Firefox" or "mask as IE"? Sometimes that fixes some issues.

I beg to disagree.

I like how only one tab dies (instead of the whole browser) when things go wrong in Chrome, but then again I've never really had serious crashes with Opera.

if you like to know, you should use it!!!
then u can tell for yourself - 2 days testing it out wouldn't kill you trust me i know i have seen other people do it and still live to talk about the experience - but on-topic.
chrome take much space -about 150 mb while FF take 28 mb only- if u open more than one page and open the task manger u will get about the same chrome.exe running in there and if u dont know which one is the main window - u can closing one of them thinking it`s a page to find out that the one u picked is the main browser page and close them all -, if u use FF to open 10 tabs all of them will take about 250 something from the memory if u open the same pages on chrome they will end up for about 380 something used from the memory, but for one or 2 tabs chrome is by far faster than FF !!

anon

That's why it has a built-in task manager, so you can match Chrome processes to currently open tabs.

Well, this is embarrassing.

Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.

You can try:

* Removing one or more tabs that you think may be causing the problem

* Starting an entirely new browsing session

You can use Chromium (there are compiled versions available on Softpedia) if you dislike Google's branding so much, although as far as I've been told there's no functional difference.
