Burning App For Linux And Media Player

I am looking to switch to Linux....still deciding on Redhat beta 10 or Mandrake 9.2 RC2

anyway...i am wondering if there are any good CD Burning programs for linux?
and also how about a good media player? are there any that plays windws media?
