Direct X Update Problem

everytime i try to instal direct x 9.0b i cant. windows xp pro comes up with an error saying there are compability problems and i can't update it. some of my games are working because of this. cuz they require direct x 9 to work right. anybody with a solotuion please help.

Update the drivers for your motherboard, graphics card, and soundcard. Then try again. ;)

i have the latest drivers for everything, and my system is 933mhz old school athlon, 512mb pc100 memory, and a geforce 4 mx440 64mb agp. when i go to update to the latest direct x, i get a windows compatability problem saying the system will become unstable if i install it, then the install automatically quits. right now i have dirext x 8.1 and all drivers are updated to the latest. do you think i cant update to the latest dirext x because i dont have service pack 1? i dont have a valid serial key so i cant get the service pack.

Yes. I think it will be because you don't have SP1 installed. All is not lost however. You can change your cd key to a valid one.

You'll need to find a valid key. I can't remember the best one or what to search for, probably still the bluelist keygen. I'm sure someone will come along and help you out on that one in no time.

You've heard of astalavista right? - Google is your friend!! Be careful not to download the sex tool bar though :lol: You'll be presented with a dialogue that says 'download the file', that's what you want. Never ever run anything from the present location off Astalavista, always save to disc and scan with an AV.

ok, i got the valid key and everything aid service pack 1 is all installed. now everything works. and direct x 9 in installed. thanks everybody (mainly LTJBukem) for the help!!
