Right now, Nokia 3360. Close to 3395 pictured above. I'm waiting a month at least to see what shakes out of the new federal law. On 11/24/03 cell phone companies don't own your number. Individuals can take their # to any cell company. I'm hoping this leads to a blood bath of cost cutting between cell companies. :)

I remember when those phones first came out. Damn were they bulky. We have one still. It's up in the closet. It's crazy how we used to use those, now we have mobile phones that can fit in your pocket.

Since we are on this topic (I have a 3510i BTW but am planning on getting either an SE T610, or Nokia 3650), can you use a PAYG SIM on a Pay Monthly phone?
yes, if its on the same network, if they are different networks it may not work as the operator that the phone was bought with may have locked the phone o it may only take that networks sim, but u can get phones unlocked

Most phones come unlocked in the UK nowadays; my son's 7210, my wife's & daughter's 8310s and my T610 were unlocked from new.
If the PAYG and contract sims are the from same provider they should both work in the phone anyway.
I'm not impressed with either my T610 or T-Mobile: the phone's ringer takes 5 seconds to get to full volume even when the 'ascending ringer' setting is disabled, and if you don't want T-Mobile's voicemail feature to take all calls after 25 seconds max, you have to turn it off altogether.
The screen is all but impossible to see in daylight.
It's ugly.
Mind you, the txt messaging is the best I've tried.
I did have a V200 for 2 days but the infra-red function didn't work, you can't add words to the T9 dictionary, the characters on the display are childishly huge, the green 'dial' button doesn't dial the contact's default number when you're flipping thru the names list (just brings up contact info) and, finally, words don't wrap in txt messages - you get some of it on one line and the rest of it on the next, like the worst text editor you can imagine.
Is that enough? BTW I gave my son the 7210 because it was pissing me off even more than the T610 does, so I don't know how I'd like the 7250i.

if a phone was baught on contract then it shouldn't be locked to any network, if it is then you've been ripped off, every phone that I have ever got on contract which over the years has been about 5 or 6, I have been able to use them with different sim cards for different networks.
@kunal your mate has misinformed you, or he has crap deals.

Well, you said all in a previous post, rather than most.
Like I said, my T610 (T-Mobile), my son's 7210 (Voda) my wife's 8310 (O2), my eldest daughter's 8310 (T-Mobile) and the V200 I had for 2 days (T-Mobile) were all supplied unlocked.
I'd be interested if you found proof as it would be hard to dispute the experiences that I and others have mentioned.
it may kinda depend on where you get them from, as if u get them form the networks shops, or of the net, they may be locked. but out of somewhere thats sells all networks may just have stocks of phones which are unlocked already.
and i would think most PAYG phones would be locked.
but i think orange locks all there phones. but nokias are easy to unlock anyway.

This is a cool post...Newayz i gots a question! Does the higher the number in the nokia model phones mean its better? Like would the 4500 be better then the 3000? ect ect..i dont have a phone lol
not really, just different series, like the 7210, then is the 7250,
where as you would also get the 6210, then the 6310.

This is prolly another n00bie question, but, when you see these offers in store like getting a phone on contract for free; do you have to sign up for the contract and everything before actually getting the phone? I don't know a thing about contract offers.
Also, why do so many people have poor, out dated mobile phones, yet they talk about having top spec PCs? The nerve of them! (Only kidding).

It ain't like that at all.
Nokia split their phones into 'series' depending on their functionality. For example, the 3000 series (3510, 3410, 3650 etc.) contains phones better for gaming, the 6000 series is more for the businessman and the 7000 series is more stylish than the others etc.
It is like a bit of a con though, because they'll release two phones at the same time, but in different series, and each one will have things the other doesn't, such as one will have four way scrolling and a colour screen and the other will have stereo ringtones, for example.
Hope that helps.

Looks like Nokia is a big player in the cellphone market. I cant wait for the rest of the world to catch up with the stuff available in Japan, I hate how most countries release the technology in trickles rather than a flood.
This is now standard, check it out. Up to 1hr video with sound (.mov format). Superb browser, will play flash animations. Wicked screen, realtime streaming video calls, 384kbs connection just plug into my laptop and get online. All the 3g stuff. The technology here is crazy. :D
