It's been a couple of years since I had a seedbox. I'm thinking of buying the cheapest server kimsufi offers for 14.99 a month. Has anyone got any experience with these servers?

Also has anyone got a tutorial for setting it up also?

You'll probably be better off getting a shared plan than that, especially cos you'll have to pay setup etc.

They are an ok server, the same as they had in 07/08, they are just recycling them. Basically making them not unlimited any more, and dropping the price a bit.

I see. The problem is finding someone trustworthy to share one with. Also, according to the website setup is free and it is unlimited. Are they not telling the truth? What sort of cap are they putting on there boxes?

2TB traffic limit outside the OBH network/unlimited inside. After 2TB of outside traffic is reached the network port gets cut from 100meg to 10meg for the rest of the billing cycle unless you buy a TB block that will restore the port back to 100meg again. This is all very clearly explained at OVH's site when you look at the kinsufis.

Looks to me like a 3TB/month transfer limit before the cap the bandwidth. Setup is £49.99 unless you pay for 1 year up front... Are we looking at the same Kimsufi?

Yeah, should be 3TB. They sell extra blocks of bandwidth at 2TB each. And the setup fee has been there for a while. Too many spammers and Ddos coming from the KS servers I would imagine.

You don't have to find anyone, the shared plans are managed servers you share with random people. They are perfectly secure and all that, you just pay for your small slice of the server.

If you get your own box though - you can do whatever you want with it.. reboot it, reimage it, - try different OS's, add your domain, set reverse DNS, etc, without worrying what someone else is going to complain about.
