Out of them, HIMYM, but they are both meh.

If you want good comedy, then it has to be Arrested Development and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Better Off Ted (despite the name) is very funny. If you liked Arrested Development it's worth a watch.

I hate watching TV series, but I love big bang. But I guess you have to be a nerd yourself to get the full amusement out of it.

I can recommend Black Books, a british series from 2000.
The show went on for three seasons with six episodes in each.

I watch house too. Religuosly, sometimes more than once. Haven's pretty good. As are pure pwnage, entourage, curb your enthusiasm and ghost whisperer.

Big Bang Theory is a little better than HIMYM. HIMYM has its moments, but sometimes they're annoying. TBBT is awesome! Especially season 3!

I'm glad that someone else has also suggested this series,
I'm talking about "The Wire" is one that definitely deserves your time and attention.
It's an HBO series of course, kind of a guarantee of a good series.
Even if you are not in this whole rap, life on the street, drugs, police, jail, money, corruption thing, it still is a good watch!
Based on real life stories and documents, it delves deep into the characters and their way of life in Baltimore. Really cruel and cold at times, but also touching at other times.

Apart from this awesome production, i will also suggest
Farscape
Battlestar Galactica (the new one)
Babylon 5
those 3 above are the scifi kind and really are precious! a must see if you are into this category. (you could also consider Stargate and Firefly)

continuing, other great tv productions in my humble opinion would be
Jericho
The unit (pretty propagandistic for the american army, but apart from that it's a pretty good series)
24, Prison Break, Lost (obviously no need for introductions for these 3)
Rome,
Sleeper Cell
Californication, and Friends (the best lines and immediate responses i've seen, these guarantee you a good laugh)

I think Mad Men is the best show currently on television. Some other greats are Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, and Bored to Death.

I just watched the first episode of Sherlock ( A Study in Pink ) and really enjoyed it. Strange thing is that I intensely dislike both the show and the character The Mentalist which is just a bastardized version of Sherlock Holmes . Strange since the thing I dislike the most is the arrogance of the Simon Baker's character whiles Benedict Cumberbatch's Holmes revels in his arrogance and it doesn't bother me a bit. Amazing how much better both the casting and acting in British series tends to be than in American ones.
