HTPC, anyone? If this debuts at an affordable price, I'll probably hop on board, Dell or not. :smilie4:

From Engadget:

Once upon a time, Dell's Zino HD promised desktop parts in a tiny box and didn't quite deliver the goods, but it was still cute and powerful enough a mini-desktop to earn a spot on our holiday gift guide. This time round, it looks like Dell might actually fulfill that original pledge, as support documents leaked at the company's website show the box sporting an AMD RS880M chipset capable of socketing Phenom II quad-core processors. While it only comes with onboard Radeon HD 4250 graphics by default, a Mobility Radeon 5450 GPU is listed as a potential option at launch, and the box can now hold up to 8GB of 1066MHz DDR3 memory alongside 802.11n WiFi and Blu-ray drive options. On the front and back of the small box, you'll find practically exactly the same ports, but there is a new optical S/PDIF socket capable of piping 7.1 surround sound. While there's no guarantee all these options are slated for a stateside launch, we imagine Dell will either deliver or keep a tighter lid on these sorts of docs.

It may look cute, but the second a hardware problem comes into play... It will be hell

It seems like the technology industry is just trying to find ways to pack more shit into small spaces....
Personally I don't care for size or weight, I'm more concerned about performance.

I have a mini-desktop machine similar to the dell you posted about, which I must say runs well for the most part. Fyi... it was given to me for free
A real problem with this is the small box can't seem to cool itself well enough, because it almost burns your hand to touch it.

**back from vacation lol** :geptardrod:

I built this little guy (http://www.apextechusa.com/products.asp?pID=171) (with this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813500027)) in my living room. It's a pretty nice little machine for $350 with a TB drive. There really isn't much downside, but there are two things I would like to do:

Have a small case. My current one is sitting atop the TV table (http://i26.tinypic.com/9fr4oh.jpg). I would like to place it inside one of the side panels out of sight, but it is too deep. It fits, and the door slides closed, but only by a hair and certainly not enough for any air flow whatsoever. A smaller shell, like the Zino, would still allow for the necessary air flow - the temps would be something to watch.

Upgrade. My current machine is just borderline on being able to stream BluRays. It does just fine on 95% of them, but it's annoying on the rare occasion when the missus and I are sitting there on Friday evening with popcorn and the movie won't play without lagging. I'd like to upgrade but I'm waiting for something like this to fulfill all my wants.

Why don't you just transfer the bluray over to the TB hard drive, so you won't have to deal with streaming?

:pinch:

That's what I do. Sorry, I just got my terminology mixed up there. I download content directly onto that PC, but not every 1080 movie will play smoothly. I typically use one media player, but I have several to choose from in case a movie is being picky, but there are still some movies that are just too laggy. This Dell seems to be perfect little setup. The worst thing about Dell PCs is how they lock up the BIOS tho, so overclocking the "good" way is out of the question. :dabs:

It's out.

$499 and $599 versions.

That's about what I thought it would debut at. If they were $399 and $499 I'd scoop one up. As is, I'll wait.
