I like to buy polyester shirts and polyester blends, but that material seems to hold in a sweaty odor no matter how I wash it. I read on the interwebs to use baking soda in the wash but that didn't do anything. Are there any tricks to ridding said stench?

You could try showering before putting on the shirt...

Or, you could try taking it off, before drinking yourself into a coma. I hear night sweats/terrors are pretty bad...

You have three options:

1. Stay in Tejas, but do not sweat.

2. Move far enough north to preclude breaking a sweat.

3. Buy good cotton garments.

1. Impossible. It's 105 here today.

2. Impossible. That would require moving out of Texas.

3. But....but.... polyester short sleeve shirts get the wimmins...

Use an oxygenated powder, it usually gets rid of more than the normal washing powder.
Try adding more softener, and use concentrate instead of ready mixed stuff.
Buy a deodorant that actually stops you sweating instead of the stuff that covers up the sweaty smell.
Get some pre-treatment soap and rub it on the affected area before sticking it in the washing machine.
