I would just keep out of it. What the partner does with his life is his business. Unless the emails create a problem, I would just stay out of it. Or you could be evil and rat him out, whichever you want lol. :devil:

Heres a better Idea, Claim that all this time the emails where from you, your the admin you can easly use the other accounts, make him feel sick to the stomach, wink at him a little call him "big boy" and I garantee (sp?) he will never cheat again.

ummm, yeah - that won't work. just from emails i've read, i know they've done "it" like 4 times, and messed around on many other occasions (as late as last friday)....

i went through a divorce, and now he says he'll just "live through me". not in the same boat as he, however. he's a big church man w/children - situation a lil different.

she is married w/children as well!

i would go for black-mail, if you're not comfortable with it you could always go for the anonymous black-mail (ie. send a brick through his window with a copy of the incriminating evidence attached)

But it would be good if you would tell him openly (really openly)

he is also just human, but what I think? If the company get know that some
employees doing other things than working. You are paying paied for your work,
not for other stuff (this is just how some companied may see that issue)
and if every employee would not work they could close the company - and
that show one more TIME: Each employee or user counts like on kazaa!!!!

As a past IT person myself, let me give you some info that might aid you in your decision....

I don't know about anywhere else, but here in Canada what is in a person's email is confidential and can only be opened by technical personnel with permission from that person's superior. (doesn't mean it doesn't happen, just means that if you find something you can't do anything with it unless you were under orders).

Same thing applies to files on a users personal network drive. Even if the network admin found loads of porn up there, they can't say or do anything about it unless the person's superior has given permission to view the directories.

Sooooo... what do you do? Well, if she's been sending out crap and smut email to a lot of people, see if you can get one of these people to report her to her boss, and then he/she would probably give permission for you to be in those emails... then when it happens, you can approach your friend and say, "I came across these while I was doing a check of so and so's email for her boss, and I just wanted to ask you about it." This way, you don't look like a spy, and can't be fired for reading confidential information... and you can approach your friend with your concerns without having to admit you were spying...

In a workplace the computers are meant to be used for WORK PURPOSES ONLY.

However I know poeple use it to waste time. There have nothing wrong with someone wasting time with stupid emails at work but they cant complain if someone is paid to check them to see if any on work realted activity is going on.

using web mail would be the way to go

if you fear your boss is spying on you, use hushmail which encrypt your connection all the way

here, EVERY user must sign an internet and email "acceptable use" policy (which i created). They understand that their emails are subject to review at any given time, and that all emails are owned by the company - not the sender/receiver. i do not need permission from supervisors, it is my responsibility to maintain. granted, i cannot fire someone cause i busted them, but i can report what i've found to their supervisor.

one guy last year actually was fired, for browsing the internet all day. i first told his superior (after months of blatent usage), who asked him to stop. he continued to be dumb about it - so he lost his job.

you haft to be kidding about the network drive thing! if i find porn on a network drive, you're done! there is no personal privacy on a company owned network!

I assume this is at a work place. All e-mail conducted at work should not be assumed as 100% private. Everyone "knows that". Tell your friend that (written in the company's rules somewhere).

Since you are the Network Admin. , you do have access to the computer network, which involves seeing e-mail at times, especially when trouble shooting.

Being that this person is your friend, you should have no problem making mention of it. If it were me. I'd tell him about it, but advise him to do that e-mailing elsewhere, not on company time. I'd leave it at that. If he does it again, that is his own fault if he gets "caught". I am not sure what your job consists of, such as busting people and "telling" on them? I don't know. As always, his wife will find out.

He probably "caught" the e-mail because of spam filters filtered out some words. Happens in our firm all the time :rolleyes: Some peeps enjoy reading (just because they're too curious, and then we sent a friendly message to the users to be a bit carefull the next time with a fingerpoint to our spam filter :) Next time you see them they smile a bit shy, say it will never happen again and thank you ... :lol:
