Due to a SERIOUS exploit with Windows and uTorrent, all versions of uTorrent after 1.8.2 (14458) are banned except for the latest, uTorrent 2.0.4 (21586).

Okay, the DLL exploit is so overblown that it's not even funny. Windows, Linux, and Macs all have the concept of the working directory for the program, windows just happens to check the working directory for dlls before the system directories (which was deprecated by default past Windows XP SP2).

The only way this vulnerability will affect you is if you randomly download a malicious dll file, put a .torrent file in the same directory for some reason, and then open that file. And really, if they weren't being total hypocrites they'd ban EVERY client before 2.0.4, since 1.8.2 and 1.7.7 et al also have this vulnerability. It's just an excuse for them to cull some versions off the whitelist.

For anyone who's convinced the sky is falling, the hotfix for all versions of windows can be found here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2264107

It might break some of your applications if they rely on this functionality to run, but I'm currently running it on Windows 7 with no noticeable issues.

It's so great they have such a genuine concern for their user's security.

Well yeah, because rTorrent isn't for Windows... so you obviously won't have a problem

Sorry, I'm bad at this. Is there some sort of catch in this question, or did you just feel like increasing your postcount?

Compare the little numbers in your current uTorrent's About window against the ones in the first post, and find out yourself. :O

But then again it's really not your job to appoint me is it?

The suspense is killing me. Bigdaddy's entire life depends on the outcome of this one trick question. He either becomes a successful torrenter in high Lvl11 trackers with LOTS of e-friends, or he gets shun out.

I had a couple things seeding with 1.8.5 which are now in the red. I guess I need to decide if I want to change. I am scared of change.

Your version is between 1.8.2 (14458) and 2.0.4 (21586). That would be a yes in my book, you have to update.

I'm still waiting for an answer for what's the difference between "massively banned" and a plain old everyday regular banned?

The consequences of a massive ban will never be the same.

You are still being more than a little vague but by that silly screenshot I'm going to assume that it has something to do with dubious invite forums and people that don't have the God- given sense to use capitals.

Massive bans mean you have more power than the other little kids who can only do a regular ban, but who wish they could massively ban, at least one day, after a lot of virtual bend-overs.

It's called e-penis growth, and it's directly associated to the amount of acne you possess.
