I hate apple, but I don't think this will stand a chance against ipad. Because of this ==> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Y-buw6t7zw

Yeah Windows tablet are destined to fail. The only real competitor to Apple will be Android. Hardware maker will be able to build everything we want (and the iPad doesn't have) while keeping an easy to use interface that was build for touch screens and thousands of apps to play with!

Now that I'm exited about:

I don't see how you're going to be restricted with the Windows OS?

I think the problem will be than even though Win7 has built-in touch screen capabilities, you will end up more often than not on applications that haven't been designed for touch screens so will probably be awkward to use. We will need "Windows Touch Screen" compatible apps but then with all the other platforms (iOS, Android, OVi, etc.) who will take time to build an Nth version of their app for a (possibly) really small market.

What a lot of hardware maker doesn't seem to understand is that not everybody can have their app store. We need competition but there's only so much programmers that can build app and they can't all code for all platforms. That's why I think Android is the only real contender that could take market shares away from Apple.

Only future will tell!

I think I have wasted my money by buying Apple's iPad. I had a lot of hopes when I purchased it but now I realize that I have made a big mistake. I have got a lot of problems with it especially with regard to file sharing and . I think TEGA v2 Touch Tablet is a wonderful machine. It has got a lot of features. The price is also okay from my point of view. I think it is best suited for a company executive like me who does a lot of travelling.

I heard that in Germany their iPad copy is called WeTab. That's already such a lame product name the product itself can't be any better

There is a good possibility that eventually, there will be a good iPad. I think that alternative will be running on Android OS, but as of right now, there's no comparison. The current tablets running android are not that powerful, but they can only get better, right? I personally like apple for setting the standard with their iPad, it's basically challenging it's competitors to make a better product.

I don’t think that there is anything to beat the features of Apple’s iPad though so much is being hyped about this latest product of Tegatech – the Tega v2 Touch Tablet!! There is sure to be a few takers for this one but I would wait a while before I decide whether it is worth all the money that you are going to pay for it!!direct sat (http://www.directsatbroadband.com/)

OK besides separating you from some more of your money could someone tell me the actual point behind the iPad and it's various clones again?

Besides being "cool" of course.

Portability?

I'm still searching for the point myself....but searching on the iPad is just so much fun. It's a cool computer alternative. The iPad 2 (http://www.redmondpie.com/ipad-2-1.2ghz-dual-core-cpu-2-cameras-no-retina-display-anti-reflective-screen/) looks really promising as well.

On topic though. This hunk o junk (http://liliputing.com/2010/10/tega-v2-windows-tablet-priced-at-988.html) is priced at $1000!? WTF just get an iPad then

Portability?

Smartphone is more portable and does practically the same things .A laptop somewhat less so but they can be infinitely more productive.

These things are like Coke Zero , they couldn't give it away until someone found a clever way to market it .Change the colour of the can to black so now it's acceptably macho .

I agree with you in some regards IdolEyes. I really hate mousepads on Laptops. I get very annoyed when the likes of Alienware advertise "Gaming" laptops without the traditional mouse.

I find Coke Zero disgusting. The artificial sweetener they use just doesn't replicate sugar properly.

It was Coke or Pepsi that had a short promotional run using REAL sugar. Of course it tasted awesome, but sugar is expensive. HFCS is cheap, and it's OK, but damn sugar cola was best.

We want bigger phones and smaller tablets

The Galaxy S is perfect in it's size for me. I've done so much shit, and I'm kind of upset I didn't adopt Android sooner. I was stuck on Symbian S60 v3 FP2 for the past 2 years! The only thing iOS has right now to its advantage (IMO) is hardware video acceleration, and Honeycomb will be addressing that, so there goes that advantage.

To each their own, and all that. The Galaxy S and the other 7" tabs are too small. I already have a smartphone, and thus, already have a pocket sized computer; I've no need for another.

I'm gonna hold out on the tabs for at least another year and see what comes around.

lol I was talking about my Galaxy S phone, if it exists as a tablet then it's news to me. The point I was making is my phone is big and functional enough where I'm not even thinking about a tablet. So we're pretty much in the agreement about that.

You attach a mouse to it.
I'd be more annoyed if they released a gaming laptop with no touchpad on it.

Can't say this for iPads really, but for android tablets: installing acv and reading comics, watching movies and stuff on a 7-10" screen while on the train/bus, bringing along for trips when you can't be bothered to bring a laptop, light surfing etc etc.

They do have their uses, which sometimes overlap with those of smartphones, but if they're cheap enough, they're worth it because the larger screen is nicer to look at (especially for comics).

So a cheap android tablet - do try one, at some point.

Fuck the ipads though. The pricing on those is just dumb, and you gotta jailbreak them or whatever or be stuck with whatever wholesome apps apple approves of.

We'll see what happens on March 11 (US) ;).

Why hasn't the ram upgrade (or downgrade) been announced yet?

Skiz

If there was an upgrade, it would have been announced. No mention of it means no upgrade.
