Swarm is the total amount of people on a torrent, i.e. both seeders and leechers. In the sense the word is being used in the thread title, it refers to all the swarms on a tracker combined.

On topic, a few names spring to mind - Demonoid, Zamunda, RuTracker, IPT, TL, What.cd.

1: Demonoid
2: Torrentday ( Torrentday beats TL by 4 times ). Keep in mind, that TD has almost 900.000 users.
3: Filelist ( also extreme compared to TL )

In terms of peers, the following sites lead the pack:

In my experience, number of peers is a false econonomy anyway (if you are after more peers = better speed).

You can only connect to so many of them, and you dont know how many are seeding numerous torrents, so are sharing their bandwith with a lot of uploads.

20 seeders, 4 are seedboxes, 30 leechers, 1 is you, you have a chance to hit a seedbox and whoosh, max download speed.

1000 seeders 10 seedboxes, 500 leechers, 1 is you, the chance of hitting 1 seedbox drastically decreases = slower download speed.

Also peers on a tracker dont tell the whole story either, we have 150,000 seeders on 15,000 torrents, but only 14,000 Unique peers (so 14,000 members make up that 150,000 seeder number, again members seeding multiple torrents).

Its just the way bittorrent works im afraid, and hence why most public torrents, download slow, even with 1000`s of peers, its just the luck of the draw.

OK with a site like SCC or SCT when it was around, 70% of members have a seedbox anyway, so you will probably max your download, but as a general rule, more peers does not really mean more speed imho.

I think "Tik" stands for Cinematik, and in that case it's a bit like KG, but with DVDs.

It could be that he's looking for large swarms because that often makes it easy to seed back, but that's a different matter. :P
