Chat On A Lan

Hello I need to be able to chat to a co worker on a small office Lan .
What I need to know is may I use yahoo or something to be able to Talk to others on a lan???

there is a program called LanChat - it is polish, but I think there as
well english programs :) just have search on google.com.
