Hello everyone,
Can anyone recommend me any nice, quiet songs that I can use as an alarm? (yeah I prefer to wake up calmly)
Thank you very much.

Wake Up - Mad Season.
Starts off pretty quietly and calmly at least, and you have to love the irony of the lyrics and title. But either way, great song and even better album. I used it as an alarm a few times, and always overslept. For me it's the exact opposite, I prefer to be woken up by something loud, otherwise it just won't wake me up, hence me oversleeping to a song that starts off real quiet and calm. For years I used to wake up every Sunday to War Pigs by Black Sabbath. I kind of miss doing that.

hmmm, I can't think of any songs per say but the unplugged album "Axe The Cables" by STS9 is really awesome to either wake up or fall asleep to. Also check out Big Gigantic's album "Fire It Up" another solid fall asleep/wake up peacefully album. Couldn't recommend you a specific song off either album cause I don't really know what your style is

I didn't find anything I liked from what you all proposed, but thanks anyway.
Should have stated that I like rock (don't want to wake up to full volumes of guitar and drums though, just something calm and quiet...)

Calm? Hmmm, Rush 2112 is pretty good. It isn't too over the top and the drum playing by Neil Peart is awesome to wake up to.

Try:
"One Ray of Sunlight" by Phantom Planet. (I love this band!)
...and...
"Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol

Hey GrandKat,
if you are still looking for candidates, here are some of my ideas.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rguhxKEBlr4&feature=related
This is one of my favorites songs, is quite slow, rock, with some nice music.
next check out this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8MBgtFIi-o&list=ULD6YR7jJDFls&playnext=9
Ok this one is borderline slow, the intro could be used for a smooth waking up (if you don't mind a little drum in there), but only for the intro as the songs gets a little more aggresive later on.
Last but not least you can also check out
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUcD-tX9oss
this is probably not considered rock, though it could be pretty close. It has a really different sound, it's smooth and soft so it could make a nice melody to wake up with.
Well i hope you check those and maybe you like one. I may come back some other time with other options as well if you like, when it's about music i just can't stop :)
take care

Definitely a feel good song for me, and whats better to wake up with then a feel good song, is 'I Can See Clearly Now' by Jimmy Cliff or Johnny Nash. I don't know which version of it is the one I remember, it's been remade a few times. I love the message behind it and when I was a kid I love those RCA television commercials with the dogs in it that featured this song.

First thing that pooped into my mind when I read thread tittle:

A bootleg version of that for the weekends. The intro is long enough for me to transition from oh-my-it's-morning, to alright-let's-get-today-started.

This is the song I wake up to on weekdays. 15 minutes long to time my morning, and the song build-up is great to get my energy flowing quickly.

lol thanks, but as I said, quiet songs, those annoying clocks don't really do the work... I just wanna wake up quietly, not freaked out :)
Basically I listen to the 5-10 seconds of the song before turning it off, not the whole one.

So, did you try listening to Phantom Planet's "One Ray of Sunlight"

or...

And what did you think of it?

Check out the 'Post-rock' genre. Very peaceful, melodic, and it's all about slowly building to awesome climaxes.

Here are the lyrics for Phantom Planet's "One Ray of Sunlight":
"One Ray Of Sunlight"
Goodness sometimes things get bad
But I swear
I'm doing all I can
So try all you want to
I'm gonna try too
If I get one ray of sunlight to hold in my hand
Maybe we can be happy again
I'll try for one ray of sunlight to hold in my hand
Maybe we can be happy and then...
Things don't go as I planned
But I swear I'm doing all I can
So try all you want to
I'm gonna try too
If I get one ray of sunlight to hold in my hand
Maybe we can be happy again
I'll try for one ray of sunlight to hold in my hand
And I guess if this isn't the end
Maybe we can be happy again"
I use it as my wake up song because it has sunlight in the lyrics and reminds me of the rising sun, and it's positive so it puts me in a positive frame of mind.

999969999 You really want me to listen to one ray of sunlight I guess... :)
I tried it, its a very cute song but I prefered "chasing cars" (That, like I just found out, you suggested lol :))

Anything specific you can suggest me? I don't know any song of this genre...
Thanks.
