A UK porn ban could be on the cards as the government prepares to meet ISPs in January to discuss a requirement for users to specifically request access to porn rather than just being able to plug rude terms into the search engine of their choice. The thinking behind the plans is based on the “think of the children” rational. Conservative MP Claire Perry told the Sunday Times: “We are not coming at this from an anti-porn perspective. We just want to make sure our children aren’t stumbling across things we don’t want them to see.” Is this a slippery slope to censorship or simply good sense?
