-stolen account and then recovered thanks to site's mail recovery system
-disabled, eventually, due to inactivity

Banned from one site when staff so opened a site up with a few friends that owner had also banned, mind she did have a habbit of banning for staff for no reason and I can list several that went by the way from that owner for no reason

well i did prefer scc and ftn over sct which is why I let more than one account there die. But out the lot if some one gave a me a choice to re-join at current time it would be scc. FTWR and FTN where also places I really liked.
Some I have managed to re-join but I have noticed that over the last 12 months or so a lot of trackers seem to be a lot less active fewer torrents and peers. This is just going by a few places I have accounts these days :)

Funny how people put down 'No Reason' for so many of their bans. You don't just get banned for 'no reason', there's always a reason no matter how small or how unfair. Even being banned from inactivity counts as a reason - you didn't use your account. It's usually a bit more than "a few" bad apples, and tracker staff ban countries because of that, not racism. It's sad, and it prevents good users from that country from joining, and I dislike it too, but that's how it is. L33t trackers are harder to get, and thus don't have to deal with that, therefore not banning countries. :idunno:

Torrentlab, long story short, staff used to staff on the 1st BCG, knew them well, joined, wanted BCG back, PMed owner if i could ask an uploader to upload on BCG (after he had seeded on torrentlab) replied yes np, asked him, he went to another staffer, all hell broke loose, spammed BCG and the rest is history (IE: last time i checked they had 12 torrents we have over 16,000 so...) actually just checked and looks like its gone completely. actually with a bit of digging http://www.scenebits.info/ thats them. Not sure if its all the same staff though, as i didnt join to see.

first ScenHD: I don't even know why, and the staff played deafh and then finally said I there was no way I'd get my account back; sad because I liked it so I could get stuff that originated on the real good trackers, and that way I'd save my ratio on those.

then What.cd: when I got banned it said something like: 'you know what you did' or something, so I didn't even bothered to try the staff; neeh, no biggie. Yes I did used to find a few rare stuff in there from time to time, but mostly I can get the same stuff elsewhere.

finally, a few weeks ago HDbits: and what a sad day that was, sad indeed :-( , but my fault I'll admit, it's embarrassing for me to say it here in this fine community, so lets say it was my wrong sharing/ratio practices, so I didn't dare go to the staff. But damn do they know how to make good hD encodes, no better out there. Although latly i can find most of their releases either in other good trackers or Direct Download sites.

All in all I would rather still be a member of those trackers

You can, but that's in direct violation of most trackers' rules. Many take measures against dupers, and if you get caught, you may not be the only one who gets banned.

I've lost a few throughout the years for inactivity. The only one I regret losing to inactivity was STMusic... Somehow I spaced it and didn't login prolly for like 42 days.. Only tracker I have been 'banned' from was PTM. I heard about it from a friend at work a couple years ago, tried going to it, and it gave me a Forbidden return code saying my IP has been banned, LOL. I'd never been there before and was banned. I'm guessing someone on my ISP or close IP range musta did something and they did a ban on my IP range or something. No biggie, I have everything I need now days, well except one, but I've done good living without it in the last couple years! :P

As for trackers, inactivity on a few sites: iTS (great site, just never found enough use for it), PTM (I spent more time inviting others than I did actually using it), Revolt (got in after the community died- I heard it was quite good once), a few others that just didn't interest me.

I'll add that I recently deleted my bookmark for RevTT. I believe they are too obsessed with making money off of material that is not theirs. Donations should help keep the sites running- not line the pockets of staff. Also, I was seeding 40+ torrents, and was not making ground on uploads...fishy. Regardless, I'm done with 'em.

The retail industry does pay for the products that it resells. For-profit torrent sites skip that whole pay step and jump straight to profit. This sucks because that money could help smaller, not-for-profit sites keep the lights on. Instead, the large for-profit sites take the money out of the community.

End users, IMO, are different. Viewing, reading, or listening to media is not consumed any more than if someone did these things at a public library.

I think it's a good idea to log once per month on what and TL. I might be using them on the near future.

Well, I heard that only donor accounts were kept alive. I don't know. I managed to keep mine alive for more than 30 weeks even after they banned Egypt, I don't know how they didn't catch my IP address but they just didn't :P. Had a well buffered account and it did really make me angry and sorry for the loss of it. I'm still trying to have it re-enabled as I've done nothing wrong ( actually I proved that there are good Egyptian members ) but I guess that will be just too hard. For now, I use TL, iPT for the everything content and they are meeting my needs so far.

I also pointed out how recently many members were banned in a row from a tracker that does not allow GA at forums (PS: is it just me or GA reminds of lady GAGA?) and how we could now trust that staff did not leaked out ips due to any such deal.

And Next thing i knw was puff Banned.
So on one boring day i went to dere support IRC and inquired about my account. They blamed i was trader. I asked how they reached that conclusion. They pointed out that how I posted news from one of tracker which i have requested invite. I pointed out that the request was nearly 8 month old and i got an invite frm some other place in mean time.

Trading took a big hit when iTS came on the scene, the anti-trading sentiment was at an all time high, not sure iTS deserved all the press it was getting. here's 1 story; i got a bunch of them. back in the sct days, i worked on a website that a few ex-sct uploaders started, called mybytes (https://web.archive.org/web/20060705041928/http://www.mybytes.org/). i met a bunch of ex-uploaders that had all these horror stories about feeling. as a dumb joke, i told my inviter that the uploaders should kick feeling's ass or something. the very next day, this guy sent me photos of feeling, a satellite photo of his house, e-mail addresses, aliases he used in the scene, all this delicate and super personal shit; he wanted me to start some kind of attack website against feeling and ultimately his goal was to take sct down completely. i got so nervous that i bailed from that website and didn't use my sct account for almost 3 weeks for fear of a permaban

Skittles was formed by a group of 8 people from ftwr including M4rduk and Ven0m, I know this because I was one of the 8 people. Skittles had nothing to do with FtN or any other torrent site, and in fact was anti anything 0day, files had to have been released for at least 6 weeks before they were allowed on the tracker. But then Skittles was only ever an experiment, and never really went past the beta stage.

Sadly that wasn't the intent, the fact that it later became 'supercool' was simply because it had a limited membership, not because of any intent to be 'supercool' but because the concept was never finalised, and therefore was a beta test. I can understand your loss of respect given that Skittles turned out to be the high on the list of supersecret must get into or die trackers, but the intention when it was created and which I was a part of was quite different. Unfortunately the best of intentions can be perverted, after a few months I thought they were being complete dicks and ceased having anything to do with the site.
