Demonoid is great is you happen to live in a place where you don't have to be overly concerned about the authorities .
I've found things on Demonoid ,like certain older Asian films or many recent ebooks that I couldn't find on other private trackers supposedly even dedicated to that sort of thing .
If however you simply want to download the latest scene releases IPT is certainly a better choice.
As for ratio ( although I have a +2 on Demonoid :) ) I think honestly people are mostly only concerned about it because they are forced to be or because they think ,as in the case of it effecting userclass , because they think it gives them special prestige or status or something.

force, yes.. but hey, at least they force (in this case) to share back what they grab. 1bytes to 1bytes. torrent isnt DDL.
and honestly, i dont think there is many user as you on Demonoid (keep seeding after finish), but for whom, that the spirit.
