The drama is finally fucking over. Why deal with the communism of BT when I can fulfill my individualistic desires according to capitalistic mantra through Usenet?

No but seriously, just got the basic astraweb special. It's maxing my 20 Mbit connection on a 422 day old Bridge to Terabithia. The parts are not all there, and it looks like it'll be incomplete, but I'm hoping that rar-repairing will fix it. Otherwise I'll have to learn about block accounts.

ive just downloaded it via
http://www.mysterbin.com/detail?c=45697
and it unpacked just fine without even repairing as far as i noticed (btw dont pay attention to "password protected" info in this case- it is a false positive)

if you make a search "the title+ 720p" u'll find another BDrip from septic which seems to be totally complete..

Did you know it was a false positive before you downloaded it? If so, how?

Thanks.

I didnt. But both binsearch and nzbindex dont have this post flagged as password protected. So i downloaded first rar and tried to unpack it)
i guess back then when the post was posted mysterbin wasnt very accurate

Did you pay anything for this?

Waddafocky
01-16-2011, 05:16 AM
Yeahp, $11 bucks a month. I figured I can earn about $12 hour when I'm not using my brain or my body at all, but all the work that goes into searching for well-seeded quality material, and the anxiousness of waiting for the download to finish amount to more stress and time than an hour a month. I think I'm making about $1000.

Right now, I just use a combination of DDL+Usenet+trackers to get shit. They all have their strong and weak points.

-DDL will have a lot A LOT MANY MUCH crap quality shit out there, and you will never see how good something is because everyone just posts Thanks and Awesome and idiot drivel like that. Also, Organization is a complete mess and
+DDL has constant (usually fast, dependent on service) speeds and probably the most content. Retention is really dependent on which service the uploader used (MU+MF FTW avoid RS)

-Usenet will have a lot A LOT MANY MUCH crap quality shit out there, and you will never see how good something is. Period. You have to know what you're looking for. Usenet also doesn't have things over 3 years old and unpopular (likely not to get reposted - if popular, there's a chance you can ask for it and it'll be posted)
+Usenet BLAZING SPEEDS and no e-drama and whoring and ass-kissing or any of that. Retention is about 3 years, so if it's published in the last 3 years, there's a good chance it's on Usenet.

-Private BT involves a great deal of being the trackers bitch, whether that means being a "good community member" by donating or sucking the SysOPs cock in IRC. You decide whether keeping a good ratio is a good or bad thing, but compared to Usenet and DDL, it's bad.
+Private BT has community, whatever you want to make of it. Possibly the best thing about BT is content found in large niche sites (BCG PTP etc.) because it's here that you find all the old stuff that wasn't retained by Usenet or deleted by DDL.

-Public BT is (or will very probably be) slow.
+Public BT has everything.

.

Usenet crap quality? Yea Scene and P2P stuff do get posted to Usenet. But you can also find whole Bluray disc's, 25/50GB, or DVD9's if you are that much of a purist and have the bandwidth to spare. There are HQ rips out there if you know where to look. That's the learning curve for Usenet pretty much, damn easy once you know how and where to go and you can practically find anything you want. The only thing I usually can't find, and a rarity indeed that I can't, are some movies more than 2 decades old.

Waddafocky
01-16-2011, 04:07 PM
No, I'm not a purist and I don't have much bandwidth to spare. But tell me, do you still troll headers? No - you search what you're looking for. And that's what I meant - there's a lot of shit out there, but if you look, there's gold.

You're right. It's kind of like what WoW is to real life, except both BT and Usenet are virtual and non-essential.

Private BT provides achievement and e-penis in a way that is totally irrelevant to real life, and appeals more to teenagers. Usenet is more practical - you just get what you want out of life, and appeals more to people who just don't have the time or don't want to spend it mucking around with teenagers intent on e-penis.

Don't get me wrong. I still like some BT sites I'm a member of,community and all that. Also sometimes BT will have that rare item that can't be found elsewhere.

I saw this and your comment on another thread about the cons of private BT being having to suck the sysops' dicks on IRC and stuff like that, and while that often holds true, what about torrenters that couldn't care less about e-penis? I'm talking about people that are on a tracker they like, grab the stuff they want, and seed it back, without involving themselves in the "community" any more than making a torrent comment every now and then.

That was me when I used BT, by the way. No forums, no IRC, no shit. :idunno:

If anon lost all his credibility, would that make him incredible? Because I certainly think so.

Also, I am obviously making a generalization about a minority of the private BT community (oxymoron lol ohoho). It doesn't hold true for most members of a private torrent site, but I'm assuming that most people on this board aren't the regular users.

I just can't do it dude, my mouth has to always be running; a smart man like myself can't develop any further without open discussion. When I say smart, smart ass should definitely be applied. I've been getting some local friends to jump into private BT (since they can't afford Usenet, bleh). I tell them exactly what you just said... "keep your head down, download what you want, seed back, keep your ratio up or buffer it, and never say a word". In actuality it's a response to their concern of being banned, because if you follow my track record, I get banned for having self-respect. Except for one case, I got banned from Kleverig (free porn indexing for usenet) for some weird reason... the only message I saw was (yeah right). WTF does that mean, it was a legit account using one of my legit emails, seriously.

So yeah, if you can just ignore everyone or are great at rim jobs, the private communities are not all that great. I've yet to have any problems with anyone at HD-Space so far, I'll see how long that lasts. Either way, Usenet is my Go To service.

Well like I mentioned here and in other posts, Kleverig, x264, TorrentDay (3 times, 2 of them being fake accounts of Demonic Retribution! Actually, the accounts probably still exist), and I recall a CNET forum and some other site. All were mouth-related except for Kleverig (and I didn't care enough to figure out why).

You would imagine my surprise to find I way banned with a message saying "yeah right". Either it was a mistake or they thought it was a fake account??? I got one of my friend into Usenet, so I wanted to show him how to find some porn rather than direct search (which you never know what you're getting anyway). I was logging in and found that message. He started laughing his ass off because he knows about my bans from other sites.

Usenet go down?

Maybe it's his way of saying "if piracy was no longer an option..." Yes. Even if there was no way to shut down usenet they could still make it unusable for file sharing. Taking down or simply blocking the nzb sites would be a huge blow simply because of all the bogus posts. They could force providers to shut down or remove so much stuff on their servers that its no longer worth using. Usenet is in the spotlight now and they will do everything they can to make things difficult.

I know very little about torrents. I don't understand the appeal of bt when usenet accounts are cheap and have high retention. You are also a lot safer legal wise. If usenet goes down at least some of us have netflix and redbox to download from :D
Usenet go down?
