They don't have to be. I have seen enough woman stand ups and they are not funny. I have seen them do bad, like if their where men they would be calling it bombing, but they get by on charity laughts.

Woman are not funny. By that I mean that they don't laugh by jokes but by social structure. Men sometimes laught at what women say but that is not in their control, at, not with, kind of thing.

It's cos they don't do fart jokes, innit? 'bout the wrong level for some without that, I should think.

Also, I find that being able to imagine myself being in someone else's situation, someone whom I'm nothing like helps me to understand their jokes. Without being able to take that leap, be it cos you're a complete moron, or just impaired somehow, of course you can't enjoy it.

Given that they make up about half of humanity, in all strata of intelligence and education, and given the diversity of humanity in general, the odds are good it's not women* who are broken.

Yes, it is. People also have people with downs syndrome. There was a story in the new york times in the 90's where a black couple got a white baby, and she swore she had never cheated. Somehow the guy stuck around. Then they had their second baby that also was white, and everyone thought the mom must have had a white lover and all hell broke loose. Then they found out that genetically they had white blood in them and made white babies. A family tragedy was saved by an scientific inquiry. She had never cheated and now this black couple had two white children. I have no opinion on that, but it shows that white and black aren't that different at all.

And that is exactly what modern microbiology and genetics show. I presume your a white male. You can genetically have more in common with an arab girl, an old lady in China, an old man in Gambia, and an Eskimo that your own family.

And if you look into it you will find that the diversity we expect of our genetic diversity was wiped out 70-80.000 years ago and we are now all the same. The wiping out was a volcano that left only thousands left on this earth. You are more the same with your japanese/mexican/anything native/indian/... whatever than you think, than your own parents. In genetics your human, and you are as human as every people on this planet.

This is science.

But I still haven't found a woman stand-up comic that's any funny. Silverman is doing the shock thing. Not funny.

Yes, it is. People also have people with downs syndrome.

Down's is an incorrect splitting and reproduction of the 23 chromosome pair. As for reproduction, females can be fertile, but there have only been two known cases of males producing offspring. Odd example to use.

Exactly correct. The grammar could be a bit better, but the science end is right on.

Our closest primate relative shares 95% of its genome with us. In the remaining 5% there is approx a thousand genes. Given that a single gene expressed in the wrong place at the wrong time can be the difference between having arms or not, there's a world of genetic difference between human beings and primates, you fucknugget. Although right now I'm thinking I actually have more in common with a chimp than you. At least a chimp knows when it's flinging shit at its cage mates.

Either way, get over it, suck it up etc. and understand that you read into my post the wrong way. :whistling

Pleased to meet ya'. And if you are a scientist, may the lord Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, have mercy on the souls of your coworkers.

Listen fucknugget, let me put this in terms I can only hope you'll try to understand.

Assuming you are correct and human beings differ from each other by 0.095%, and our closest primate relative (which incidentally is the Bonobo not the Orangutan but I'll be generous and use those figures), differs from us by approx 5%, you clearly do not have 'nearly as much in common with the Orangutan as your Asian neighbour'. Not unless you consider 0.095% to be a bit similar to 5%, and in the scientific world where we deal with actual figures and data, we don't.

Being a scientist, my only question is if this Jesus fellow is giving out grant money, I have a proposal for him.

That's not even a questions, that's a corollary :dabs:

I used it in the singular, so I still have one question left, and I'm waiting to use it.

Look, honestly science is flawed. It clearly made a mistake many times (starting with Mendel faking some data, and currently with the Large Hadron Collider making mistakes). I don't trust it. The entire scientific method is flawed, and honestly, you basing your blind belief in it is rather doubtful. How can someone have so much faith in numbers that change all the time. You yourself agree the number "used" to be 98%, now it's 95%, next year it's 92%. Science is fickle. Facts are not. My neighbor looks like an Orangutan. You look like an Orangutan's ass.

Yes.

You can be a handful, for a girl.

The male prerogative is often confining.

Not fair for either of us.

Do you consider yourself funny? Because, if you do... you're sadly mistaken. My sister is funny ass fuck, you half illiterate, misogynist, mental migdet, you. The missus is funny, and far more clever than you, too, fuckwit.

But, my mother would have had you for lunch, lad.

I like to think the best of people, so I'll assume the men contributing to this thread who have been disillusioned by female comedy have only been exposed to French and Saunders, anything written by Victoria Wood, Sarah 'eee I like cake I do' Millican or the blow up sex dolls they call their girlfriends.

Haven't seen 'les in a while, though I feel his presence on occasion.

The board becomes just a bit...courtly, when he's lurking.

I don't recollect you and I as "mismatched" in any way, it just took us a while to suss each other properly.

Luckily, I am not generally in the habit of choosing off scientists, nor are you enamored of lording education over experience...which, as I see it, is a peculiarly scientific mind-set.

We did butts heads, though - I can't recall the particulars - I remember thinking not that you weren't to be trifled with, but that to do so would require a bit less flippancy and a bit more effort.

I think Bigglesworth and I would be together on that, for what it's worth.

As to your formulation on 'men-after-30', I will say that while I am undeniably interesting, I occasionally aim to annoy, just to guage the quality of the interest.

The prerogative of the slightly aged, you see.

Not mismatched any more than men and women can be x
I don't know how much mindset is responsible, but I was also raised to respect people older than me, and I still do. Although, the internet is a great leveller in that regard and I'm much cheekier to the aged than I would be in real life...until I find out they're older. Then in some cases I'm even cheekier :naughty:

When Biggles is around it makes me want to get out my metaphorical slippers, settle into a chesterfield in the drawing room of my mind, and puff thoughtfully on my pipe. Or go out and mend the shed roof and creosote the fence, depending on how active I feel.
I imagine you and he together would make for a slightly more arch and youthful version of Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon ^_^

Why it's better to be a Woman!

1. We got off the Titanic first.

2. We get to flirt with systems support men who always return our calls, and are nice to us when we blow up our computers.

3. Our boyfriend's clothes make us look elfin & gorgeous. Guys look like complete idiots in ours.

4. We can be groupies. Male groupies are stalkers.

5. We can cry and get off speeding fines.

6. We've never lusted after a cartoon character or the central female figure in a computer game.

7. Taxis stop for us.

8. Men die earlier, so we get to cash in on the life insurance.

9. We don't look like a frog in a blender when dancing.

10. Free drinks, Free dinners, Free movies ... (you get the point).

11. We can hug our friends without wondering if she thinks we're gay.

12. We can hug our friends without wondering if WE'RE gay.

13. New lipstick gives us a whole new lease on life.

14. It's possible to live our whole lives without ever taking a group shower.

15. We don't have to fart to amuse ourselves.

16. If we forget to shave, no one has to know.

17. We can congratulate our team-mate without ever touching her butt.

18. If we have a zit, we know how to conceal it.

19. We never have to reach down every so often to make sure our privates are still there.

20. If we're dumb, some people will find it cute.

21. We don't have to memorize Caddyshack or Fletch to fit in.

22. We have the ability to dress ourselves.

23. We can talk to people of the opposite sex without having to picture them naked.

24. If we marry someone 20 years younger, we're aware that we look like an idiot.

25. Our friends won't think we're weird if we ask whether there's spinach in our teeth.

26. There are times when chocolate really can solve all your problems.

27. We'll never regret piercing our ears.

28. We can fully assess a person just by looking at their shoes.

29. We know which glass was ours by the lipstick mark.

30. We have enough sense to realize that the easiest way to get out of being lost is to ask for directions.

Wrong
First, I'm to die for in any sexy pair of panties. Just point it upward, and half the girth of my gorgeous man meat on display on the sides, with the head peaking out the top. Simply irresistible.
Second, if the woman is much larger than the man, then... well if you're not feeling well just go back to picturing my man meat and you'll feel better.

6. We've never lusted after a cartoon character or the central female figure in a computer game.
If this is true, I'm sorry, so sorry.

14. It's possible to live our whole lives without ever taking a group shower.
If I've never group showered, am I a woman. Also what's the quota, does a party of 2 count as a group? 3? 4?

19. We never have to reach down every so often to make sure our privates are still there.
If a woman is checking for downstairs privates, well that's an issue, no matter how often or rare.

20. If we're dumb, some people will find it cute.
as in other idiots, and it goes both ways

28. We can fully assess a person just by looking at their shoes.
well now you're just insulting the gender...

Actually though they say "Women and chitlins first " the precise order is someone to navigate the boat , people with guns , babies , men smart enough to not let go of babies , strong cowards , ugly women since the good looking ones tend to be lighter, weaker and held in resentment and finally women in general.
Unless of course the ship involved is from an Arab country in which case not all property being equal camels are somewhere higher up on the hierarchy.

No, srsly, you can tell straight away if someone's a knob by looking at their shoes. My best friend recently went out with a complete knob I warned her about. I managed about 500 words of diatribe based on nothing but his FB profile pic. He was wearing pointy shoes with a slight heel.
Never managed to go more than about 6 months without having a group shower tho'
