"Researchers say that about 100 people (called pirates in the article) are responsible for 75 percent of all downloading on BitTorrent (and the same group does 66 percent of all uploading), and says that the way to shut down the p2p network is simply to disincentive that relatively small number of people."

If their ideology worked then they would of seen results when ScT boat sunk. Sure, some of the uploaders probably moved to different trackers but there was little to no effect of source distribution within the first week.

Researchers
Who are they? :idunno:

But I'm sure there are at lease 100 x30-x50 uploaders at present in bt or may be even more..

I am 100% certain the research is incorrect, especially considering the multi-national scale of the p2p world.

The movie industry have some serious leaks they will never stop. I think this is mostly a message meant to read inhouse. Both a warning and damage control. They have tried their best this oscar too.

Torrentfreak founder Ernesto Van Der Sar, who in his 'other life' works a professor at a Dutch university, makes a habit of thoroughly debunking these Hollywood-funded "research papers" -- proving that the authors usually don't know what the hell they're talking about.

Here's just one such example:
