I have really slow speed with all US servers so i use european and download at 10+MB always.
Today ive noticed that my speed was awful..
i couldnt understand what happened. So i made tracert and nskookup for both news.eu.supernews.com and news.supernews.com

Same number of hops, same addresses all the way down to the servers IP address, that is 138.199.67.30 both for euro and US servers..

WTF is that?
pS
Ok, here is official answer from their support

We only have one hostname now. The EU hostname no longer points to a different server.
Fanfuckingtastic!!!
There is a reason why all major NNTP providers have several sets of servers,US and Europe, sometimes Asia.
its time to cancel my account i guess.,. getting 2.5MB(20+Mit) instead of 10+MB(83+Mbit)as i used to is a deal breaker

PPS On the other hand here is the part of tracert

Hmmm here is the part of tracert

PPS news.giganews.com, max speed

I'm still getting exactly the same speeds as I've always gotten with supernews.. 3MB/s.. which is maxing my connection out. I downloaded a couple blurays last night and then a tv show this morning, same speeds at both times.
I'm on the east coast.

Did you take a look at my tracerts? Got any idea what im dealing with here? To be honest im really confused..

I could understand if tracerts were different.. but they are the same except for the servers' IP address..

PS nevermind..it seems news.giganews.com is also affected.
.
Funny thing is news-europe.giganews.com gives me blazing speed...oh well... :)

My tracert shows a different server address than yours..

Tracing route to news.supernews.com [216.168.3.30]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms DD-WRT [192.168.1.1]
2 6 ms 5 ms 5 ms 10.5.112.1
3 13 ms 6 ms 8 ms XXXXXX

4 49 ms 11 ms 29 ms XXXXXX
5 7 ms 7 ms 7 ms nrfksysr02-atm151200.XX.XX.cox.net

6 15 ms 14 ms 16 ms ashbbprj02-ae4.0.rd.as.cox.net [68.1.1.232]
7 25 ms 16 ms 15 ms news.supernews.com [216.168.3.30]

Trace complete.

I dunno what else to tell ya.. i'm guessing speed tests and what not are giving you satisfactory speeds? Just problems with supernews?
