Recommend me a surge protector

Recommend me a surge protector, but not one of those cheapo ones.

I'm over needing a battery backup, so a simply surge protector should do me fine I suppose. I've been using APC battery backups for years now and my second one is growing weak already. I won't buy another. I'm a bit put off by them in recent years and I'd like to not buy anything at all from them.

I'll be plugging in my PC and all related items to it - Printer, two monitors, desk lamp, 2.1 speakers, etc...

Minimum 8 plugs would be nice. 6 is mandatory.

Nahh I don't know much about surge protectors.
I have one of these (http://www.amazon.ca/Belkin-BE112230-08-12-Outlet-Protector-Protection/dp/B000J2EN4S/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1297519669&sr=8-2). It has spaced out outlets which is nice for adaptors to plug in, and mine has clips on it for routing wires to keep them neat, though I don't see it in the amazon pic. It has a 3750joule rating which is quite good, I think.
I'm not sure exactly what joule rating you need but I always figured the higher the joule rating the higher the surge that it can redirect.

I've got one of these in my bedroom so I can plug in my lamp, alarm clock, and USB phone charger. I have no complaints. :)

You want lower clamping voltage and higher joule rating.

Been reading up on and off and basically found three things that I kept finding when reading, and seemed to be most important:

Clamping voltage - The lower the better.
Energy/electricity dissipation - The higher the joules the better, but anything over 600 is probably adequate.
Response time - The faster the response time, the faster the surge protector kicks in.
