what do you think was the biggest one hit wonder? It can be a song, album, whatever.

I'll start off with (though I know you can guys can do better) LEN - Steal My Sunshine. I loved the song a lot more before I found out the band totally sucks.

Dexys Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen .Number one song in the US in 1982 and they never even charted again.

Chumbawamba- Tubthumping

One of my favorite bands, who have over a dozen great albums and are still putting out quality releases. They are known to pretty much everyone for their one big hit party song. Just looking at their lastfm charts, virtually noone listens to any other songs, even on their hit album

Technically the biggest one hit wonder was Los del Río - The Macarena . Over 12 million in sales ,second longest run at number one , on the Hot 100 chart for 60 weeks and best selling debut single of all time in the US.
Only the fact that several versions were released prevents it from being something stupid like fourth on the all time biggest singles list behind Candle in the Wind, White Christmas and Rock around the Clock.

Not sure how popular it was in other parts of the world, but was really popular here.
I still hear it on the radio once in a while.

The 90's were great weren't they? Period of some wondrous one hit wonders. I don't want candy and I don't really care if Bow Wow is somebody's name.

Someone doesn't seem entirely clear on what "one hit wonder " means.

In a career spanning over two decades, Carey has sold more than 200 million albums, singles, and videos worldwide, according to Island Def Jam, which makes her one of the world's best-selling music artists. Carey was cited as the world’s best-selling recording artist of the 1990s at the World Music Awards in 1998, and was named the best-selling female artist of the millennium by the same awards show in 2000. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), she is the third-best-selling female artist, with shipments of 63 million albums in the U.S. In 2006 Carey was listed in 6th place on the Forbes Richest 20 Woman In Entertainment list. In April 2008, "Touch My Body" became Carey's eighteenth number one single on the Hot 100, the most by any solo artist.
