Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel got his world championship defence off to the best possible start in Albert Park on Sunday evening. The German beat Lewis Hamilton’s KERS-assisted rush as they had a drag race to the first corner, and thereafter that was all she wrote.
Vettel now leads the world championship with 25 points to Hamilton’s 18, Petrov’s 12, and Alonso’s 10, while Red Bull lead the constructors’ title chase with 35 points from McLaren on 24, Renault on 15, Ferrari on 14, Sauber on 10 and Toro Rosso on one

Sebastian Vettel took yet another pole position for Red Bull in a disjointed but exciting qualifying session in Shanghai on Saturday afternoon.
In overcast conditions the Red Bull driver performed his usual trick of pulling something extra out of the bag in Q3 and moved well clear of the McLarens of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton. The world champion lapped in 1m 33.706s, far and away the fastest time of the weekend, leaving Button to 1m 34.421s and Hamilton to 1m 34.463s, a wobble exiting the final corner costing him crucial fractions.

Lewis Hamilton scored a fabulous victory for McLaren in a Chinese race of excellent drives, catching and passing Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel on the 52nd of the 56 laps as the reigning world champion's gamble on a two-stop strategy - and a 25-lap run on Pirelli's hard rubber - just failed to pay off
