My bittorrent goes really slow, getting a maximum of 15kb/s if I set the upload rate to 5kb/s. I have a firewall so i opened ports 3881 to 3889, the new port range it's 3999 so if i open more ports will it get faster?

Opening the correct ports in your firewall means BT can connect to the tracker and therefore connect you to Peers and seeders vice versa. If the configuration is done properly your speed will increase but you have to be patient till there are more seeders. Peers means people who are downloading and uploading as you are. Seeders just upload and don't download.

Thanks for the info, but it still doesn't answer my question: I have 9 ports opened(3881-3889), let's say that I also open ports 3890, 3891 ,3892.Will my speed increase cause BT has more opened ports? (the BT port range is 3881-3999)
Will the speed stay the same?

opening more ports WONT increase ur speed

kazaa only use 1 port and the speed can vary, depends on ur connection and loction

As stated, opening more ports won't help the speed. However, if you want to run more torrents at the same time, you need as many ports as torrents open (or the ones that are 'more' than the ports will run as behind firewall). Most users don't need to think about it, as most ppl don't have that many torrents running at the same time.

Thats the wrong range, bittorents range is 6881 - 6889 if you include the new ones it goes up to 6999

your wrong
you need to open ports to get the best speeds

6881 to 6889 is enough for 9 separate bittorrent downloads, no need for the outdated extended range of 6881 to 6999, cause you will never need that many torrents open
