what is the tip for changing the number of available ports

my com systerm is....xp pro sp3...
could you give me any tip for increase the mumber of available ports...?
should i use any software?....
do i have to adjust something in system files?
please...help me...! i'm just a new torrent user....

Are you talking about the half-open TCP ports limit in Win XP? If yes, check out the following link:

Newer OS don't have this (annoying) limitation.
