this is so true, hence why i left ubuntu shortly after their ''gutsy'' update. It wasn't feeling like linux anymore :(
back to the topic, great share. never plan to compile a kernel.....need a 1 month beard first ;)

windows is reliable/ish for a first time user
you can make everything go so wrong so badly viruses that they had to introduce some foolproof backup plan
apple has that but i don't trust it isn't being hacked all the time.
