6 to 10 days until it reaches destination

8 days to even be ready to ship abroad

Edit: sorry 9 days I mean. Is it supposed to travel at light speed once it leaves the US, because it isn't even here yet.

Second time now

Express courier to an island in the North Sea, yeah that's a cheap option.

Especially considering shipping costs are taxed here as well as the goods. How far out is that?

I know it's to prevent people from ordering online rather than buying it here, but what about when things aren't available here?

Even to ship in Canada from the US I never use UPS, fast, but the brokerage fees can be quite crazy...!

I had a strange thought enter my head that horses are more useful to filmmakers than to cowboys.

IdolEyes787

No and a comparative.
In a ranking of importance for filmmakers it's something like studio money ,sycophants, bimbos ,drugs, Johnny Depp , horses and finally art.
On the other hand for cowboys it's a hat (preferably cowboy), a horse , a sixshooter or maybe a Winchester and lastly the love of a good woman which depending on circumstance can be either a hooker with a heart of gold or a schoolmarm.

At least USPS is cheap. Sometimes shipping from the US to Canada is cheaper than using Canada post to order internally.

It's government funded and priced only to meet budget, not to turn a profit. That's why stamp prices (bulk of mail) are always changing.

Edit: not to imply Canada doesn't do the same thing, just saying there's a reason it's cheap

Lol, when I used to ship things for work, nine times out of ten there was never more than one day difference between standard and priority. The price wasn't worth it arriving 24 hours earlier.

It hugely depends on what you're ordering though.

Pretty sure they can't do much anymore. Not it's the round trip to the four corners of the Earth before finally winding up where I need it.

Your item left the United States from FOREIGN CENTERJERSEY CITY NJ 099 at 10:40 am on June 04, 2011. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

'Scuse me Skiz, but right now, fuck UPS - no, I take that back - MOTHERFUCK UPS.

I am entering the fifth day of guaranteed two-day 'service', and, as a consequence, I'm going to take it up the ass on reservations, etc., as well as miss quite possibly the last ever National Gathering of my car club in Indianapolis, where I was scheduled to run around the fucking Brickyard?

Bad as USPS may be it's still preferable to a postal lockout which we ( Canada) have right now. I have three separate orders stuck in limbo and no telling when I will be getting them.
Part of the problem is that excluding parcels the mail system is so devalued nowadays that no one is in a hurry to rectify the situation.

The people at the post office here took pity on me, so I can pick it up today after giving them a copy of the invoice yesterday. With no extra cost (I could officially do this (get it through customs straight away) for around $60 extra) :)

Postal lockout as in strikes?

IdolEyes787
06-21-2011, 12:11 AM
Canada Post was on a serviceable rotating strike when the higher-ups in that Crown corpoation thought they would bring governmental pressure to bear by locking the workers out.
Seems to have worked too since the Conservative government is planing to introduced back to work legislation before they take their summer break on Thursday.
In the meantime though USPS isn't accepting any items marked for Canada.

Night0wl
06-21-2011, 12:32 AM
Back to work legislation never works, so that's just prolonging the problem rather than solving it.

Unfortunately for me USPS is my only 'affordable' option overseas. Worse is some online retailers won't even ship to a P.O. box, I gotta have it sent to my sister then she sends it to me.

Evelyn

dont you have DHL

InTheBasement
06-22-2011, 01:01 PM
Yeah, but it's still expensive (international rates) and the cost difference doesn't outweigh the extra days I'd have to wait using USPS.

Evelyn
06-22-2011, 01:04 PM
yes, DHL is expensive, the most expensive of any similar service.
But when its come to trust & insurance they comes first.
