View Full Version : Site update / New Editor / Mobile Style

Just did a site update, we were falling way behind.
I'll admit I upgraded to the wrong version. I meant to upgrade to 4.1.3, but uploaded the 4.1.4 files instead. This version (4.1.4) has a new editor which I wanted to wait until it had gone through a few months of testing, but rather than restore a backup lets just try this for now. :)

So as usual let me know if you see any bugs with the site, considering I didn't have the time to properly test this version of vbulletin.

Later tonight I'll be installing the new Mobile Style which will let you more easily see the site on your mobile phone.

I like the old editor more... will take me a bit to get used to this one, I guess. More buttons in the quick reply field are cool, but they should make them blend with the style background as it used to be. And there's three rows of buttons in the advanced reply form instead of the usual two. :ermm:

Edit: it also takes a small while to show itself after pages load?

I've noticed the profile pages seem to be a bit broken. At least that's the case with yours and mine, tesco. I'm using the Future Black skin.

Mobile style will be a welcome addition as far as I'm concerned!

PS: where's the user CP?

tesco

Profiles are broken-ish, usercp is broken ( unexpected one), WTO has a few minor bugs.

I agree the editor is ugly, I'll see if I can customize it a bit.

edit: Articles don't show, and thread icons are wrong.

Profiles aren't broken here, they really do look that crappy.

I'm having trouble reading and posting on the forums - pages seem to refuse to load and time out 80% of the time. Is this due to the vB upgrade or just a problematic coincidence?

Don't know what it was, but it was solved shortly after I made this post.

One thing I like about the new editor is that it forces the text color to be black on white, unlike the old one which would use Windows' text color over a white background. I'm using a light-on-dark scheme in my netbook, so you can picture the scene.

I can see it fine, maybe clear cache/cookies....

It was timing out a lot earlier...at least for me.

Also, view NFO is broken, so can confirm that at least...

Don't think it matters much, but users lists are no longer shown in the NZB index noir in threads.

And as for upload button not showing, it has to deal with Flash, I've always had issues with it, not as many lately, but is still problematic for me. If you have any addons like noscript/flash blcok they will mess with the flash uploader as well.

Many do. It doesn't hurt the board at all having them accessible via the forums, but at the same time it doesn't look that great when the first post is "You can read the full article at...".
It's also a great way to distract the usual members from the classic discussions taking place at the BT sections, for example.

Some of the "comments" on the articles could carry on in a more interesting fashion if we had forum access to it. I remember awhile ago that was the case, then it disappeared. Glad to see it back in some form. I do sometimes read those articles.

Yeah that's the one I was thinking of at the time. It's to do with slashes in the urls. Ther might be bugs with attaching icons too.

I visited FST from my phone today (using the Russian mod of Opera Mini 3), and the site automatically detected that. The mobile style is pretty good, but not very nice on you if you have no JavaScript support - the page links in threads, the forum view and search results aren't visible, for one... even with JS enabled, it'd be nice to have at least a link to jump to the last post on a thread.

Also, there appears to be a small glitch - when you search for new posts or today's ones, the last poster's name isn't visible:

IP appending to text file. Possible ?

If you want to betatest the mobile style, it is possible to download Opera Mini and run it in a PC via microemulator.

Not a fan of the new editor. How can we turn the WYSIWYG editor off?

Also when copy a block of text with multiple paragraphs it doesn't keep the paragraphs as a new line.

edit: Below is an example:

What if both parties are under the age of consent?"Normal" sexual explorationIt is a common and normal part of sexual development for young people to explore and experiment in sexual interactions with their peers (Araji, 2004; Barbaree & Marshall, 2006; Eade, 2003). Appropriate sexual exploration is when there is mutual agreement between same- or similar-aged peers, it is non-coercive and all participants have the control to participate, continue or stop the behaviour. If two young people who are close in age engage in a sexual relationship and there is no evidence of a power imbalance or violence, the sexual interaction is not a legal issue (Barbaree & Marshall, 2006). The state jurisdictions that provide a legal defence when the sexual interaction is between two young people close in age (Western Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory) are attempting to find a balance that protects children and young people from adult sexual exploitation in a way that does not criminalise them for having sexual relationships with their peers.
Inappropriate and abusive sexual behaviourSexual interaction that is harmful and abusive between two young people under the legal age can be difficult to identify and determine. In situations where there is a clear age difference - for example a teenager and a young child - any sexual interaction is sexual abuse, as there is a definite power imbalance. However, when both parties are close in age, identifying whether the sexual activity is abusive is more complex. Ryan (1997) proposed three factors that must be considered in order to evaluate sexual interactions between two or more children: consent, equality and coercion. Reflecting on these three factors can help to clarify when behaviour is abusive.

Not a fan of the new editor. How can we turn the WYSIWYG editor off?

You can change that under "Miscellaneous Options" in /profile.php?do=editoptions.

I tried switching to the basic editor but it made pages take even longer to load(?).

iLOVENZB

test:

You can access this resource sheet in HTML or PDF (324 KB) (http://www.aifs.gov.au/nch/pubs/sheets/rs16/rs16.pdf) format. You will need an Acrobat Reader which is free from the Adobe Systems Web site (http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html).

According to criminal law in Australia, the age of consent refers to the age a person is considered to be capable of legally giving informed consent to sexual acts with another person. When a person engages in sexual behaviour with someone below the age of consent, they are committing a criminal offence (child sexual abuse).
Why are there age of consent laws?Age of consent laws are designed to protect children and young people from sexual exploitation and abuse. Such laws effectively determine that children and young people below the age of consent do not have the emotional maturity to consent to sexual activities. In relation to sexual abuse charges in each state and territory, the key difference between child sexual assault and adult sexual assault is that adult sexual assault is based on the absence of sexual consent, whereas in child sexual assault, the issue of consent is superseded by age of consent laws (Eade, 2003). An important distinction should be made between "willingness" and "consent". A child may be willing to engage in sexual behaviour; however, as they do not have the psychological capacity to give consent according to law, all sexual interactions between an adult and a person under the age of consent are considered abusive (Barbaree & Marshall, 2006).

edit: Paragraphs are still fucked and there's no paragraph tags in the post.
