Unless they remake the movie in 3D with Wil Smith I doubt anyone here will ever get close enough to watching it to actually care.

Correction, anyone remotely close to caring has already seen it or knows the secret ingredient. And the only thing anyone seems to recall about the film was one line/concept. Other than that, the movie was quite unremarkable in my opinion. I'd call it the 70's human centipede by that merit.

Edit: I thought of a tag line for the new Will Smith 3D Soylent Green remake. Soylent Green is Bieber.

It was for that very sad reason that I felt safe in not using the spoiler tag, anything older than 5 years is old skool. Then the third series of the
TV series Millennium had a logon password to the server of 'Soylent Green is people' making the spoiler tag redundant for that generation as well.
For anyone else who hasn't seen it ooops, it's still a great Sci-Fi cult classic and worth the watch.

The thought of Will Smith getting ground up before he produces any more "stars" sounds like a good idea...

It's actually worse, nutrition wise. So logically, a person would rather eat shit than something from mcdonalds.

The concept behind the "human centipede" idea has been employed by livestock farmers for a long time.

hxxp://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-kirby/you-want-chicken-poop-wit_b_530404.html

There have even been studies that measured the nutritional content in human 'bowel candy'

hxxp://jn.nutrition.org/content/127/4/579.full

and then I think we all know what a fly's favorite food is :)

Probably because The Human Centipede is torture porn and the product of a sick mind while Solylent Green is a message film produce during a period of awaking concern about the environment.

Anyways, the point the researcher makes is that even though it costs 10-20 times more than regular meat now, it will eventually be about the same price as regular meat. To this, I say what the fuck?! That's quite impractical, isn't the goal to be much cheaper than real meat, i.e. affordable? Why would you choose recycled excrement over the real thing, where's the market or the void for this to make any real difference?

I never did quite understand the old saying "eat shit and die". Cooking would of course kill any parasites and pathogens, rendering the stuff fairly harmless, which anyway is largely living bacteria. E. Coli bacteria is essential for proper intestinal function, but people are not born with it already in their gut. How do you think it gets there? Yeah, that's right - disgusting as it may seem

I can see something like this being used for interplanetary space travel, in which long multi-year voyages would require recycling all biological waste materials to the absolute maximum degree possible. But hardly for life on Earth.

Sorry I came to this discussion so late.

I assumed that "soylent green" might have had something to do with the color of the "sick" smiley that probably represents how most readers feel about this discussion

Think not of it as football, think of it rather as an excuse to sit out in the cold and drink beer.
