Weird Glitch

when i first started playing GTA VC everything ran smoothly up until now.
does anyone no why my GTA VC graphics have totally become fucked! up. totally.! its weird.

the weird thing is i can turn the graphics back to normal by using CTRL-ALT-DELETE and by returning back to my desktop..and then back into the game.. this 'resets' the game back to normal..but after a few moments it turns back to glitchy :angry: :( :swear:

I think your videocard is experiancing "clipping." Either it's being overworked, or it's overclocked.

If it's too overclocked, the chip can overheat, and cause your graphics to fracture like that.

Am I right?

im not sure... thats why im asking for help. its sounds as if your on the right track. so how do i fix it?

it (the gay graphics) goes like this as i progress to certain places and once it starts it doesnt matter where i am.... its only a matter of when. (30 secs most)

could be but im not really the one to ask about it

vice city is known to have problems along with GTA3

he's posting here cuz everyone's telling him it's a vd card prob. no prob man. i got the same card. apparantly no probs here. i keep my card nice and cool. i got like 7 fans in my comp!
now, let's c. from up screenshots, it's mostlikely that ur vd card is overheating. happened to my friend's computer. to check, easiest way is to open the case, and gently put ur finger on the heatsink of the gpu. if it's a bit burning, or let's say 35-40 deg' C, it's fine. if higher, it should be fine. if higher than 50 or 55, u might have some probs. turn off ur comp, and leave it off for a while. like 1 nite. with the case open and keep it cool by opening all the windows. try it again

if same, actually, do this first! go into ur vd card settings, and make sure it's not oced. and switch all the settings to default. then try it again. ur game is fine, most likely overheating. try those, and see wat u get.

u don't have to leave it open for a nite, just blow some air, and let it cool off for a few minutes

i might have to buy a cheap ass fan. ... does the fan have to be a lil clip on one or can it be a big one

i think u can mount a 60 mm on a gfx 5200. i tried with a 120 mm, even with a adapter, didn't work. just get a regular desk fan, and blow into the case. works great

newegg has the temp controlled thermaltakes for &#036;5. it&#39;s a bit expensive, cuz ur only cooling ur gpu. wat i might try, buy a harddrive cooler, and mount that onto ur gpu. i got one today, put it on my hd, and cooled it off 10 deg. really, it dropped from 29-30 to 17-19. amazing&#33; not sure how u would mount it, but it should fit, and it might be easier to mount than 1 man alone. cuz they got 2 60mm fans, and screw holes around

u did use the patch from Rockstar that does fix this problem because everyone installs the patch cause its only common sense to because youd be stupid not to check for a patch for a game when expeiencing problems. if not then get the patch noob.

many people have peoblem with the crack given in the cd use above one and ull be fine and " copy paste" the crack in the folder do not move it using xp "move to" :lol:

To be honest, I didn&#39;t read most of the replys above. So if it hasn&#39;t been said already, just try reinstalling. Then DON&#39;T install any crack. Then download the graphic fix. Then go to Megagames (http://www.megagames.com) and find a no-cd crack for "vice city 1.1"


Put it in the directory, and see what happens. The best advice i can give you...

You are correct. The 1.1 patch is just a replacement .exe. So go to megagames.com or gamecopyworld.com and download the version 1.1 NoCD .exe and use that one instead of the one you have now.

Me, anything that I CAN&#39;T figure out, I get pissed. Then I work hour after hour to get what I want working. If you want something bad enough, you&#39;ll do almost anything to get it. I have went through at least 30 formats in my computer life, most by mistakes. I know that has nothing to do with gta, but my point is, if it were me, I&#39;d figure it out, or die. If you keep trying and figure out it has nothing to do with the game, and its your hardware, then you know what you must do.

I could never give up on something I want so bad. Thats why I know so much about computers. Try redownloading. Get another file from suprnova. Make sure all your drivers and shit are up to date. In fact, try uninstalling the drivers, then go back to nvidia.com and get the new ones again.

It&#39;s partly my fault. I said to try Gamecopyworld, but I just checked and they don&#39;t have it there. They do have it at Megagames though, so I PM&#39;d the direct link.

Another thing you should do is make sure your hard drive isn&#39;t fragmented. That can affect performance.

all this time i thort it was my hardware (especially my graphics card) but its seems as though other ppl have similar problems and rockstar released a patch for it.

this patch fixes all my problems but i still needed the NOCD patch.
