IE works just fine for me and I wouldn't have thought it matters wether you have a legit version of Windows when downloading a IE patch...

maybe it doesnt matter :unsure:
just that i had to let windows update scan my comp cause the patch hasnt been updated in the knowlwdge base yet (dont know what the scan picks up besides needed updates)

I always use Windows update when download MS patches and stuff and haven't run into any problems. I'm sure it would be illegal for Microsoft scan your hardware and software without you knowing (although I never really checked exactly what the update scan does).
