which version of windows 7 do you use?
just wondering which is most popular...
A modded version of Ultimate.
From what I know there are virtually no differences between that and Professional for the home user.

Although there are other differences, the major difference between HP and Ultimate for the home user is Bit Locker encryption.

Ultimate, for no real reason other than I like to be able to do all windows offers should I ever want to.

I use the Ultimate, but I am of the opinion that the version for home use or proficional Home Premium are the best choices.

Ultimate so I can quickly switch between language packs whenever I want to. If not for that little issue, I would be quite happy with Home Premium.

I think you will find now that Microsoft is having to play catch up with so many mobile devices, and operating systems competing for what used to be their pie, there won't be so many different versions of the OS or big differences in price like we have seen before.
Windows 8 is being positioned to work on ARM architecture (i.e. the new tablet devices) but will be up against two established competitors with of course Google offering Android Honeycomb (it's tablet OS) free to hardware manufacturers. This factor alone should see the price of the next OS drop dramatically.

I can't tell the f'ing difference between Home Premium & Ultimate. I messed around with both recently and they seem identical.

In order to access that command, I would need to boot into Windows first, and I just don't wanna do it. Nowadays, I only use Windows for playing games.

Truth has been spoken. You want your os to be genuine.
I'm on professional, got it for $40 when I preordered it and used some credit I had at Micro center.

Believe it or not I use the Home version. It's the cheapest version and there are work-arounds / patches for most Ultimate features such as Remote Desktop.
With a legal copy of M$ Windows I also get the weekly security patches (updates).

Windows 7 Pro here...
My laptop shipped with Home Premuim pre-installed, but i had access to a free Professional licence from my student msdn account.
It would be interesting to know what a poll would show for people who paid full price for the product, i reckon ultimate and home premium would switch a fair bit...
