We have a new product that will blow your socks off - the TEAM servers. Ideal to save ratio, bandwidth, money, and have lots of fun with buddies - this server model, unavailable anywhere else, is guaranteed to push the torrent experience to the next level.

You can read all about this new model here (http://www.xirvik.com/group_server.html).

and we have an administration tutorial here (http://www.xirvik.com/tutorial_en_grouptutorial.html).

Here's some of the specs, for those that prefer not to click on external links:

Group/teams servers

A group server, also known as a 'team' server, is a dedicated server (dedicated here means that is only used by the server administrator and whoever he decides to invite) with multiple accounts. There are a few unique things that make these servers especially well suited for cooperative tasks:

- The server is designed for people who know and trust each other and want to share the server completely. This means resources and data.
- Everyone can see everyone else's torrents, and download the data. Of course this saves a lot of resources (including ratio in trackers) since if you see that someone else already downloaded something you need, you can just download it directly.
- There's an intraserver chat, so you can chat with your buddies.
- Shared disk space or per user quotas.

You can see that these features also make the server useless for account reselling. That's just not the focus of this server model. It is really a servers for friends, teams, or whatever you prefer to call it.

The servers come ready to use, totally preconfigured. When you order one, you get administration rights and can start creating your user account right away. We have a tutorial to help you get started.

Accounts:

Depending on the server model you will be able to create more or less accounts. This is fundamentally a matter of server capacity. There's no point in having 10 people share a small server, because it would just overload and be unusable.

When an account is created, a lot of services are created around it. An account comes with:

- Its own rtorrent instance that the user can manage
- FTP and SFTP access
- Web access, which includes all the major rtorrent interfaces including our extremely customized rutorrent.
- IRSSI (a IRC client, that can be used to autodownload things from announce channels) - Proxy access

Similarly, if you delete or disable an account, all service access is terminated. Disk allocation:
When the server ordered, you can opt for 'shared space' or 'per user quotas'. If sharing the space, then the server capacity is allocated for everyone. This means that if the server comes with 2 TB, everyone can add as many torrents as they want unless the disk fills (and then it's full for everyone, i.e. there's just no more free space). On the other hand, if you opt for 'per user' quotas, each account has a fixed capacity (doesn't have to be the same for every one) that can't be exceeded, even if there's lots of disk available from other accounts. You can see that each option has its advantages and disadvantages, and it's up to the server owner to decide which one to use. Note however that this can't be changed without full data loss.

IP address:
Due to the variable number of accounts, it's not possible to have one IP address per account. All user accounts share the same IP address. This is typically OK but you should check with your tracker mods.
Terms of use
Of top of the usual terms:
- Xirvik only provides support to the server owner, not users in each server. This means that if a user needs help with the server, he/she must contact the server owner for assistance. Of course if there's a problem with the server itself (hardware, network, a software bug), we'll assist. But we are unable to help with usage questions except from the server owner.
- By ordering one of these servers you take responsibility for all activity in the server (which makes sense since you can see it all).
- Never share a server with someone you don't know. It's a bad idea. Nothing good will come from that.

Software upgrades
These group servers include best of breed software, most of it shared with our entired product line. They also include specific programs, add-ons, and configuration, that has been developed by Xirvik for this product. We stand by our products by guaranteeing free software upgrades.

In what world? Most likely u need to Inform the staff and their are certain trackers which wont even allow it anyway.

Xirvik's servers are the best ... but the price is a bit high.

Xirvik's servers are the best ... but the price is a bit high.

There are a few ways to lower prices

a) Overcrowd servers
b) Get better deals from datacenters
c) Stop contracting and sponsoring the programmers doing the software we all use (rtorrent, rutorrent, etc) and just stick to bundle official versions of releases whenever they come out

We refuse to do a (even if it would be definitely a lot more profitable), and while we make our best to do b, datacenters will only go to a certain point with prices, even if you buy hundreds of servers. c is really out of the question - a fair amount of Xirvik's income will always go to the rock stars that make it all possible.
