What's yours?
And why do you care?

System specs are sorta misleading.
A well tweaked midrange comp can easily out score a poorly configured high end system.

   lucky rich bastards    :

-1.2 ghz amd athlon
-384 mb ddr ram
-120 gb hdd (western digital)+60 gb (maxtor) hdd
-32mb geforce 100/200   i wanna kill myself, or just upgrade to another card. wat can i get for under 100 bucks (canadian)?
-win xp pro
-some crappy old ass mobo (1997!) :o
-built in sound card :o
-cd-r/rw drive (i think it's panasonic)
-some crappy cooling system

i seriously gotta get a new computer, i'm saved up to about 1200 bucks, i'll save it up until i get to 2000 bucks, then i'll build a comp instead of buying one, cuz building it is much cheaper (but frustrating). but i have got to change my video card b4 i do anything, like i said, wat kind of video card can i get for less than 100 bucks? radeon? geforce? i'm thinking along the lines of an ati 9200SE-128M Radeon 9200SE 128M AGP8x oem (78 bucks canadian :o !!!) but it needs agp8x, something my mobo probably doesn't have  . or how about the GeForce4 MX440SE 128MB AGP GeForce4 MX440SE 128MB DDR AGP4X w/ TV-Out (Retail) (58 bucks canadian :o :o :o !!!!!!!), but that needs agp4x, dam it! noooooo.

edit: here's the site where i found the video cards, its canadian, and i think they got a store where i live: http://atic.ath.cx/index.php?page=Products...dc6abc4b4704abf (http://atic.ath.cx/index.php?page=Products&cat=9&PHPSESSID=14d9d241131290fbedc6abc4b4704abf)

I have the radeon that you are questioning cpt_azad, try and go up from the SE, to either a non-pro or pro.

Stay away from the MX series from now on.

AGP is the speed that it can do, it will run on what you have just not as well.

my specs are in my sig.

i built it myself and paid for it myself which i think is pretty good coz im only 17

and i will soon replace one of the 40 gigs with a 120 gig when the postman arrives.

I also have the computer running line out to my TV and into a Analogue Kenwood amp and equalizer unit into 6 Large speakers. Not bad for my bedroom lol

hmm a thread where poeple try to further show off OK I AM IN!!!

hmm i have two comps, a test rig(for expiramental purposes) and a everyday rig that doesn't threaten me with the chance of blowing up... :P my everyday rig is in my sig...

Test rig (current config due to change at anytime)

Abit IC7-MAX3-Socket 478-800MHz-DDR-Serial-IDE Raid-LAN-Audio-Firewire-USB2.0
My mobo (http://www.motherboards.com/product_info.php?products_id=24540&)

Intel 3.2 GHz-800MHz FSB-Socket 478-HyperThread
My CPU-(i normally go with AMD but i got this for free, and i take the 5th on how i got it) (http://www.motherboards.com/product_info.php?products_id=23852&)

My memory
2 sets of 1024mb Kit (2x512) PC-4000 OCZ EL Series
Crazy fast memory (http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/mem-27.html)

Sound system:
Creative Labs AUDIGY 2 PLATINUM (http://www.motherboards.com/product_info.php?category_id=13&index_id=25&subcategory_id=&products_id=17643&)

Video Card:
ATI RADEON 9800 PRO - 128MB DDR - 8X AGP - DVI (http://www.motherboards.com/product_info.php?category_id=9&index_id=17&subcategory_id=60&products_id=21326&)

Raid Array:
4x MaXLine Plus II 250GB, 7200RPM, Internal ATA 133 Hard Drive (they went on sale with rebates for $59.00, so i said what the hell, and i bought them...) (http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product%5Fcode=50244217&pfp=cat3)

My case:
Thermaltake Black Xaser III V1000A (http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/cas-74.html)

Cooling:
a custem water cooling set up based on this product...
water kit thingy (http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/ex-wat-18.html)

All of the above for under $1300 U.S, This set up is pretty awsome, but as i said it is a test rig, heavily OCed and hopefully i will get it stable enough and it will be the server at my local lan party... It took a shit load of mowing lawns to get that money but well worth it :D B)

I would offer memory timing as a perfect example of what I meant.

With looser than "optimal" timing, I benchmark higher.

It would seem easy to crow about the numbers that a system might support, but I would suggest that other factors are equally important.

Edit:
Would you mind giving your definitions of "OCing" and "Tweaking"?

Yeah you're right I dont have those 3 systems, I made it up.

@all of you

"hey, wait

that motherboard doesn't even support AGP so how come you have the AGP Nvidia FX5600 on that board???

HAHAHA got cought out!!!"

I know how to use some apps and a bit about computers, not how to build them. I just picked the parts and had the shop build it for me. Jees I'm sorry I made a mistake. Why do are you people in this forum always so ready to jump down peoples throats?

I bought a workstation do use 3ds max and maya on,

I bought a server because I wanted to set up my own, but I havent had the time to do so yet, and being as I know jackshit about that kind of thing it will take me ages to do it. So now it just sits serving kl

I have a lower end pc to play games on and mess around learning stuff.

As for the 100MB isp Im so f**king tired of people pullin the shat, "yeah he has his own backbone too, should be talkin to god with that", how many of you bothered to ask where I am, or even google first before you slate me. Google for "asahi b flets 100MB service" see what comes up.

The problem here, as with all the slow download whining is that you all judge people by your own standards, OH I have 1.5MB DSL why can I only download at 3kbps..COS NOT EVERYONE HAS BB. Just because computers are expensive where you are it doesnt mean they are everywhere, similarly, just because you have mediocre ISP doesnt mean all ISPs are slow.

I live in Japan, I make more money now than Ive ever made in my life, they pay me too much for what I do so I decided to buy myself some good stuff while I have the oportunity. Thats all, its not so expensive here.

To be honest I dont care if you believe me or not, I know what I have and I'm looking at it now. Just wanted to let you know a few things thats all.

So please slate me some more for making a mistake over which mobo was in which box. This kind of crap makes me wanna stop sharing on this network and just dedicate my stuff to somewhere more, how shall I say, friendly.
Recently Ive been looking roound other forums and I must say, out of all that Ive seen, this one is the least friendly and most arrogant.

Have a nice day people.

divide the prices by 118 to get an estimate in US$

this doesnt include the dicount you get, if you ask, they usually drop the price by about 5%.
