My teenage daughter has forgotten the password to her hp compaq 620 laptop and i have been unable to find a program that works without costing the earth so can anyone help me out with the name of a free program that can do this without taking a week to understand how to use it or know of a program that is on a tracker/trackers.

Any help much appreciated
Neil

Hi Neil,

I believe I can fix this for you but to do so I'll need access to your teenage daughter :smilie4:

At least get a pic before committing to the task

If the laptop has a DVD drive try Hirens Boot CD.Watch the video for instructions.

You could try this: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ss/pcloginnowsbs.htm

I've never used it myself, but I read the tutorial & it seems pretty straightforward, & it's free.

There are many boot discs you can use to clear a password. ntpasswd, Hiren's and ERD Commander 2007's Locksmith program are some ways.
