Hi,
looked through some of the posts on here re RIAA threatening people etc. Seen lists of IP's that you can download and block to try and stop music/film industry "watchdogs" from checking your files etc. How can these lists contain all IP's that these bodies use? How can anyone know of all the bodies that are checking our files? Once their IP has been found out can't they just change the IP they're using?!?!!??? Their's quite a few of them out their!

Just getting a little worried as Mediaforce contacted my ISP giving them my IP address, Kazaa user name etc and name of one of the films that I was sharing and have basically said...
1) Disable access to the individual who has engaged in the conduct described above; and
>2) Take appropriate action against the account holder under your Abuse Policy/Terms of Service Agreement.

So of course my ISP has then emailed me and threatened to shut down my account due to the terms and conditions of their Acceptable Use Policy!! :-(

Anyone got any helpful advice? A lot of the US companies cannot take action directly against people not in their country (so that's me covered their)... but the ISP's can shut accounts down and possibly take further action against us... this I do not want!

Of course I know I could stop using Kazaa... but this I would prefer not to do!!!!!!

Any advice etc would be good.

Cheers. :-)

There has been a lot of posts similar to this lately and it seems as if people have stopped responding. So my suggestion to use is to play around with the searh feature on this forum and you'll find what you need.

edit: spelling - my keyboard is screwed

I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm getting scared of the same thing happening to me. Where do you live anyway? Like what state.

Cheers gumbydancin,
(No state TheMan1891, I'm from the UK).

Will do a little more research and search the boards a bit more. Just so far had only seen people claiming that they cant do anything etc etc etc so far. (But obviousely they can do something... cut your line to the net!!! When their aren't many suppliers of broadband around that could get a bit of a pain).

If you fancy a laugh anyway... here's the letter :-)

Here's a bright idea for anyone who is having this problem , disconnect your computer that has the "offending" so called copyrighted file , and then get a computer (it can be old ) that you have never used for file sharing ,Then install what ever interent software you use to access the interent , and when your ISP dissconnects sue them for unfairly disconnecting you when you haven't done anything wrong . How you play it might get a little tricky , if they examine your hard drive they might ask why it looks so unused ECT , a possible response would be that you had to completly erase the hard drive refomat it ect bla bla bla . With no evidence (no smoking gun)the other side CANNOT win and you will at least get your lawyers fees back from them , maybe some personal abuse damages and the sastifaction of it all :)

Them California MoFos think they own the whole freakin world!
You should make a file the exact size noted of you punchin the munchkin and name it About Schmidt and remove the real one. Apparently they did not download anything from you judging from the times in your letter, so the only evidence they have is file name and size.
Also contact the compainant a couple times a day askin if so and so movie (make up names) is copyrighted cause you would like to share it and not get in trouble. Bug the crap out of them. If I lived near them in CA I would go and throw piles of dog poop at their office entrances.

I would throw my own shit at them! I'm scared shitless about the whole thing of losing my internet connection. I only have one provider in my area, and I share lots of movies and games and songs, over 2000 files, and I'm scared shitless that those fucks are going to take it away. Sorry for the sortof worthless post.
